While surfing here at DPC, right before I logged in, I saw a google ad linking to some photography site, and I decided to click on it just for kicks. I was shocked to see how much it resembles DPC, see for yourself. They've got "advanced editing," similar photo contests, site announcements on the left, recent forum threads near the bottom, thumbnails of the winners of the past 3 challenges, even google ads.

EyeFetch

Even their editing rules bear a striking resemblance:

Contest Rules

Anyone else see this as almost an exact copy of DPC?

It does if you're not logged in or a member...

I really like the flags next to the members names of where they are from...pretty neat.

That Eyefetch site is WAY too similar to this one. I would think the creators of that site did some serious browsing on this one before they put their site together. Unless theirs was up first. In that case, um, never mind. Nothing to see here--move along...

Hey, they don't have THAT many entries on a challenge. This is my chance to shine. Maybe I can go there whenever I need an ego boost. LOL

I can be the next Pedro or Librodo or dare I say, Heida. Tee hee.

Not only the small number of entries, but also the quality of the entries. Most were not that great, IMO - definately not up to par with us DPCer's. How about you take Pedro, and I'll take Librodo....or vice versa? Either, really. Let's go win some virtual ribbons...oh wait, they don't have ribbons. I guess I'm out then. I eat, sleep, and breathe ribbons - or rather the hope that I'll one day get one ;)

Log out and you'll see them. Google ads along the side, as well as at the top and bottom of forum pages.

i run a photo challenge site also and i understand it is hard to avoid having similar properties to DPC but... man that place is a direct copy... im sure the SC will see it as a compliment. no way they can out-shine this place we have too many class photographers here and a tight community..

sorry no cigar

wooo hooo... might have to go see if I can ribbon over there ... lol

Yeah, they are very similar.

Like any good business plan, going with the tried and true from othe business, taking all the good, and non of the BS is what makes a business shine.

They may not have many members, or ribbons, but keep an eye on the site to see what other things were picked up from other sites besides DPC.

It looks like they also offer digital tricks in some of the challenges.

I think D&L need to go after the owner of that site with a cease and desist or something. That's a blatant rip-off.

BTW, aren't we a bunch of pathetic poopers, sitting here posting on New Years' Eve (for us Yanks, that is).

Been there done that. Wasn't impressed. Their voting system sux. You can't vote on all the entries at one time. You vote, it sends you to the home page, you click contests, continue voting, back to the home page. Start all over.

You do get 700 max width. For all those that want bigger submissions

I actually remember reading a site suggestion here on dpc about putting flags by the member name.

I don't like that idea. It increases the idea of separation. We're one PDC community, not representing individual countries, but the ideal of DPC and photography.

I got a question - My photo that I want to submit are apparently too big (demensions bigger than the allowed). How do I get the dimensions smaller without loosing quality? I mainly use Coral Draw to edit my photos. Please help me.

This one isn't nearly as big of a ripoff as fotofight was. I haven't been there lately, but they copy and pasted the rules and everything right off DPC, they were confronted and I believe they changed some stuff. At least this site changed a few words. lol
Imitation is the highest form of flattery. But we all know who the 'original' DPC is :)
