i believe it was kodak.
they made a non-commercial camera, pros only, cost a lot of $$$$$$.
ironic that they have fallen behind now in the market.

According to the New York Times Guide to Essential Knowledge, the first commercial digital camera was the Sony Mavica, released in 1981. The CCD was developed in 1969 by Bell Labs. By 1975 they were able to create a create an electronic image with quality suitable for broadcast television. Kodak then developed pro level cameras, and the first consumer camera was the Apple QuickTake 100 in 1994. |
