Well .. this could have been extension to my existing thread on same subject, but I decided to start new one as old one disappeared without trace (thats what happens when you start new thread at non-US day hours :( ..)

Anyway, my last four submissions (out of five) for last challenges have been of same flower (same as in SAME). I captured the same flower when it was bud, when it was blooming, when it was about to die and when it was dead (to be born again). Just by changing 'style' of capture and giving suitable title (hopefully), I was able to make it fit for four challenges. AND all the four pictures are amongst the highest scoring in my profile!!!! The scores for all four average out to me more than 6 (Yippie).

But now my flower is dead and seeds are too premature to be planted (should I be sad?). Anyway, I could see three more rising from the soil today morning ... ;)

I have received generous comments on individual pictures, please do the same for 'collection' also. Also comments on this form of "art" (if at all) are most welcome (and desired :))

Your collection follows an time-honored tradition: history is replete with artists' using the same model over long periods of time...and with great effect. The most notable recent example is Andrew Wyeth's Helga portraits. But these artists' aims were probably not to produce a collection, per se.

In your collection we see the development of a single bloom from opening bud to scattering seeds, with change being the unifying theme. Other aspects tie them together but incompletely: 3 black bg, 3 vertical, 3 color. Some landscape photographers create four-season collections of a single scene, most effectively IMO with identical composition. If, when you photograph your flowers (or whatever), you take multiple images--various composition, lighting, format, dof, etc.--you give yourself the option of creating any number of "unified" collections.

I have commented on your previous post. IMO the last submission is not as interesting as first three.

Can you please point me to "Helga"? I really want to see how it looks like.

I thought "Helga" was colection of photographs. Though I do not understand 'painting' much, but the collection looks neat ... almost closer to real life pictures :)

Left one in your profile...for self-portrait. Btw, where does the figure of '80' comes from (in your profile)?
