Another recent day trip ... I'm slowly but surely catching up on all my processing!

I was considering entering a shot in the photographic competition that the zoo is running, but I'm not so sure after one of my first choices did 'okay' in the B challenge. The last 2 comments did give me hope again though (thanks guys).

So, honest opinions please (HM!) ... are any of these worth entering?

I really like the Sea Lion and the Asian Elephant, but the elephant you lost the top of his head so the zoo may not really consider it but the background makes that photo so nice.

Here's my Sea Lion shot from Sea World (a shameless plug, I know...):

Thanks. Unfortunately one of my weaknesses is using too much zoom ... all the time! I also managed to be deleting shots as one of the baby elephants walked through the waterfall so the day didn't get off to a great start.

SharQ ... you did what??? D'oh!

Hey! Go get your own thread :P
Only joking. That's a nice shot. Is the background water?

I like the sea lion and the owl shots best.

Yup, it's water. I made it B/W because it was a strange green color of water. Then, with the reflections, the B/W became sort of interesting! I have another sea lion shot too:

This one has more of a cold feel to it. Actually, I think it's the same sea lion.

I went to chester zoo last year.

I like the Black Rhinoceros one best.

I see you fell for the elephants too. We spent 40 minutes watching them feed at the end of the day and I came away so relaxed I could hardly drive.

I'm surprised the Sea Lion is proving so popular - I almost didn't post that one!

I'd have to say it too but the sea lion is my favorite. I also liked the shot of the giraffe feeding, nice clea, vibrant and interesting shot.

on a more serious note: Definitely! I really think you stand a good fighting chance, the pictures range from decent to excellent.

I wasn't even aware of the competition (but it is added now...), but I will certainly have to make the trip again to take part myself as well.

If you like the genre, I would like to suggest Knowsley Safari Park as well - excellent for photography!

Heh sorry Haje, I completely missed your second post this morning!

I should have thought to add it to your database - it never struck me though being such a localised thing. I'll be sure to add any more I see.

As for Knowsley, yes, I do plan to go - as soon as I can persuade someone else to do the driving so that I can hang out the window like a maniac : )
