Most suggestions get added. If a suggestion is already there, or is similar to one already there, it gets skipped. Some are probbaly rejected as unworkable, and some probably simply get missed as well.

Do SC members vote on challenges? If so, what do you do when you see an image you think should be DQ'd or validated?

Yes, we do vote. When we see something that we feel needs review, we hit the "Recommend for DQ" button, same as any other user. Bottom line is, voting is no different for us than anyone else, which is as it should be.

That is so weird that you asked that, I was just "coming in here" to address something similar to that.

To directly answer your question -- I click the dq button and tell why I'd like to see the original. Oftentimes, once I see the comments, there is no need to see the original.

Also, in case it comes up, For me: I try to vote on the challenge entries before I look at the dq's. If I know I won't get voting done, or if a dq comes in while I'm voting, I will abstain from voting on that image simply because after seeing the dq request (which reveals photog, equipment, and any comments) I know more "stuff" about it, and I want to know that I am voting on all teh images with teh same criteria. This is probably one area where all SC may differ

over time, everyone at dpc can tell what is a "good" challenge topic and one that doesn't work.

any "good" ones that come up and have a description ready (we hate writing challenge descriptions almost as much as you guys like arguing about them) make it into the database relatively quickly.

ones that get "rejected" (and by "rejected," i mean not put into the hopper) include some that are too similar to recent challenges or those that would require new code implementations to do (like changing to 800x800 for one challenge, etc.)

mostly, if it's a unique topic and has a good description, one of us will put it in there. remember that d&l get final approval, though. nothing goes live without their ok.

Does mk really have her own stupid curls or was that a lie she told me so i wouldnt feel so alone in the plight against my hair?

mk is actual a mythical being sent here by the norse gods as punishment for our frequent acts of public angst and treachery.

her seething rage soars loud and long across the vast dpc lands, ready to burst forth and smite those that cross her in some way.

do all the SC get free memberships to the site or any other benifits for doing this work?

This one is answered earlier in the thread.

Since much of what we do is by vote/consensus, I think that the items that are posted in the "Administrator Announcements" area is really where "official statements" would appear.

This thread is great for those who are currently online to see it.

Now how about putting all this info onto one page and adding it as a permanent feature to a menu somewhere to save yourself from having to repeat it later on.

Edited to fix grammar.

I do the same thing. I try to vote for all of the shots first, then check to see what shots have come up for DQ. I don't want my vote to be tainted based on what might be said on the shot in our DQ discussions.

There will be an addition to the "About" page, and it will be based on the content from this thread.

Attends, Depends, whatever.

"Hold your water, dear. We'll get to it eventually."

That was (more or less) a slogan we used a long time ago. Little did I know it eventually would get personal.
;>)

Okay, having attended to that detail, I am amazed at the dedication of the Site Council members who have stayed with this discussion for just about 12 hours straight now.

To me, this shows the dedication and passion the Site Council members have for this site.

So, this is just a "thank you" for all you folks do.

A few more Q's about the elite SC...

- Do you put your pants on one leg at a time?
- If we prick you, do you not bleed? If so, can we prick you? If not, why not? Since you get to pinch each other.

Ok. I'm done. :) Carry on. I do.

Togas do not require this operation.

Because then we'd fall asleep for a hundred years, and have to wait for our respective Prince/Princess Charming to revive us.

While I'm not opposed to this in concept, I'm worried that my CD-Rs might not be readable anymore by then.
