This was the entry I ended up using, for "Letter B" challenge
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=26815
but all my friends told me to submit the one below. I think I should have listened to them :)
I thought this was just a bit too post card cliche (but then again, so is a sunset photo hey :)
Comments/critiques on this? Thanks

I think this is definitely the better picture (though, they're both good shots), but for the challenge, I probably would have also picked the one you submitted. With the sillouette effect in that one, the bridge (the "B") gets more emphesis. In this shot, the opera house gets more emphesis from the lighting. But, would this shot have done better, score wise? Maybe... |

It was my favourite shot, but it said "Opera House" to me more than Bridge - but then again a lot of people though the other shot said "Sunset" more than bridge too - so this was probably the one I should have gone with :) |

I'd also have to go with this 'shoulda, woulda, coulda' shot. |

Thanks :)
Next time I'll know to go with my friend's advice.
Here's a couple more of my outtakes

The first one is the best. The others are nice but this one is near perfect.
Did you do any adjustments on the colors?

I changed the red and blue levels a tad to bring out the sky's colours |

ozdick: I think the version in this post is a much better shot. I like seeing the details in the opera house and the water. I think the silhouette is a nice effect and I can see why you chose it for the B challege. Who really knows which would have scored better. It's impossible to tell. Still nice to get after-the-fact feedback though. Speaking of which, if you could, check out my thread, "Color version of my B photo," which is about the same thing. I didn't know whether or not to submit the color of black and white version or another shot of the same subject. Cheers! |
