I'm skiing all week at Killington in Vermont. Today clouds moved away so I was able to snap some pictures. It is so beautiful no camera can capture it. It is crazy cold here but is so worth it.

Here are some shots:

And the wait time for the lift is:
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/33362/thumb/268971.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/33362/thumb/268971.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

Is anybody skiing there this week? Maybe we can do skiing GTG.

I've never been skiing there but we always used to go to the Alpine slides there when I was little. Woo!

Beautiful pics!

Heck, I know those mountains! I grew up in Rutland, just about 15 min from Killington - I've been skiing those trails for years! Burst out laughing when I signed on and saw my hometown there. Funny thing is, I'm headin' back in a day for Winter Break. :D

Well... I'm staying at Ramada Inn in Rutland with few friends. What would be best places too see and things to do in Rutland? Any good photo places?

Your only about 2 hours drive from me. Looks like some good snow there.

Are you skiing with your SLR? If so, you're a braver man (and probably a better skiier) than I am!

I've been to Rutland a number of times but only while skiing like you, and never for more than a couple of days at a time. Never really explored it.

Rutland's greatest assets are the natural things, especially the mountains in the background. The ski areas are the main attraction, of course, but you've seen them now. The Chittenden Reservoir is very close to Rutland, and has some hiking trails that circle it. It's a wonderful place for some great nature shots, especially if you get another clear sunny day like you had on Killington. The nearby town of Proctor is small and has a few nice photo-sites, like the Marble Bridge and the Gorham Covered Bridge - it's only about 10 min away from Center Rutland. As far as things to do, you've hit the major complaint of me and all my friends who grew up there - once you're done hiking, dining out, and seeing a movie, you're out of new options. lol
Hope some of this helps! I think of anything else, I'll post it.

Some nice pics there Nikolai. I'll go snowboarding in Jan, looking forward to some phoo opps. Were you able to carry your camera with you when skiing? And did you dial in any EV compensation? Enjoy the rest of your trip!

So far I only took Canon Powershot S40 with me. However I was brave to ski double diamond trail while shooting a mini movie. It was not on Killington. And I was skiing backwards and making mini movies of fiends skiing.

If Killington gets crowded as we move farther into the holidays, be sure to check out Pico right next door (it's owned by the Killington folks). It's smaller but had great snow and was practically empty when I went last season (I'm only about an hour from both, but since our college skiway 10 minutes away is decent I don't make it out to the big mountains much). It's basically the Killington snow without the tourists, somewhat of a locals' haunt.

No EV comp. Exposure comes out fine most of the time. It is too hard to change setting in gloves too.
