wow, those are some nice pics Barry. I like the man blowing into his hands the most.

Nice shots. I went to my first reenactment this past summer here in Georgetown. Most of them are pretty authentic looking.

WOW!!

These are awesome. I admit I like them in sepia (maybe even add some noise to them). I agree with Steve, the harmonica player is a great shot.

Great pictures. I have been meaning to get to one of these to see what I can do. Wish I had known about this one.

My favorite is

The only comment I would make is to work a bit on the crop. For example in this one I would like to see him on the right side of the image so that is does not look so much like he is looking out of the image.

Oh Barry, we are SO jealous!! I can't believe that we had to miss this event - you got some fantastic shots, we both love them!

My husband and I were shooting non-stop at an event yesterday from 7AM to 9PM. Believe me when I say we would have enjoyed the reenactment so much more!

Please give us a "heads up" if you hear of any other CW reenactments over there, we'd love to meet up with you. (And we don't get much F'bg news over here.)

Nice shooting!

Thanks for the feedback Larry. Much appreciated.

As for the crop - the image is as it was composed - nothing cropped at all. The biggest challenge of this event was trying to keep modern day items out of the composition (cars, utility poles, people not in civil war era clothing, etc...). In the case of the harmonica player there were some people standing just to his right observing.

You'll have to mark your calendar for next year. ;^)

Thanks again.
Barry

Oops! Hi Linda, Hi Danny - Hope all is well.

I'm glad we got there a little early because once the street action started it was hard to find a good spot to shoot from. Ton of cameras there - some BIG guns too. The guy from the Free-Lance Star (Bob Martin) was walking around with 2 monster Nikons with lens as long as my leg (well up to my knee anyway).

I would have liked to linger a while longer, but just like the VA State Fair, family took priority as the youngest (3 yr-old) was starting to freak out some with all the guns going off (understandably so...it was a little noisy).

Glad you liked them, and sorry you missed it. Take care.

Sent these images to the '28th Massachusetts Civil War Reenactors' group to see if any of the people in the photo's belonged to their group (28th Massachusetts and 47th Virginia Infantry were sponsors).

Got a pretty positive response to the images and yes, they had some of their people in three of the images. Haven't heard back from the 47th Virginia group yet. Pretty cool.
