It's hilarious to watch the scores sway depending on the time in the week - mondays scores drop. Tuesday evenings scors rise ('cause people are excited about the results). Late tuesday, early wednesday the scores drop ('cause they're mad about their scores). Thursday friday they go up (the weekend!). saturday/sunday they drop (I can't believe I have submitted yet!)

mood certainly plays a part in this - that's why i go back and review my own votes on occasion - to make sure I was fair.

Hey guys! This is also my first entry into the DPChallenge world (not to mentioned a rushed one, just to try and get something in) I've had a consistant 3.5, and as long as I don't finish dead last I'll be ok :) I have to say, I enjoyed the comments, even the small ones helped alot. In my opinion this was a pretty hard challenge. I hope to be able to take your remarks and improve. Thanks again.

I got to thinking about it, and if I do finish last, all I can do is go up from there, right? :) Don't worry Joan, we'll have a party afterwards.

I seem to be hanging on at a 5.7 =o( and I had short lived dreams of a 6

225 votes and I made it to 4.1022! I'm a little dissapointed that there were on ly 6 comments, tho. Is that usual for this site? This is my first entry and I didn't expect high scores as the photo was overpixelated, but as it seemed a bit different for the catagory and I had hoped to stir a few more comments.
With so many entries, maybe people should be voting for thier top 25 or 50 photos and leaving more comments rather than trying to vote and comment on everything.
any thoughts on this?

you can't really "tell" what are your "top" 25 or 50 without looking at them all. The fact of the matter is that people will comment more on the pictures they score high, some make an effort to comment on those they vote low, and everyone has to sacrifice something, so usually the 4,5,6's usually get lost in the mix. I haven't managed to complete voting on a challenge in 2 or 3 of the open challenges lately, but I always try to comment on a certain percentage of the pictures (usually 20-25%) and I try to leave most of those on the middle ranged votes I give, just to be sure they get some comments. But that's just my goal!

We may have quite a competition brewing here ... maybe if I could have represented my score as an elevator with a broken cable I'd have had a chance for a ribbon.

Well, I don't have to worry about my score anymore ;) Got rightfully DQed. I had forgotten No.1 rule: USE A DIGITAL CAMERA :D

The Photo

I will remember that next time :) My apologies to people who took the time to comment on my photo, since there comments got zapped with it. Thank you though :)

I more often comment on shots I score lower than those I score high. I just try to avoid doing too many "Great shot!" type comments - not that I never offer praise for the middle and higher rated photos, I just seem to find more to offer in the way of comments or suggestions (or reasons for a low vote) to the lower scores.

As for my score, I started at around 5.8, dipped to around 5.5, and now I'm back over 5.8. Somewhere around 240 votes and 10 comments. Hangin' on for a 6 after the vote sweeper does it's thing! (Wishful thinking, probably.)

Maybe they meant "Freaky" in like "Way cool" :)

I didn't post any comments like that, but the shot Alexmfin posted certainly gave me that feeling. It really gives me the sensation of falling, and the feeling is so real that I almost find it stomach churning (I find it hard to look at without getting dizzy - so would have called it "freaky")

By the way - I'm actually too scared to click on my score update button for the "Speed" challenge right now, because it's currently doing better than it has all week - I'm afraid if I do, I'll see the score drop :(
Hurry up midnight (2pm Aussie time) !!
