This is my first submisson and I'm surprised it's doing so well! Some of my comments are helpful but one inparticular speaks of "focus/clarity is a little poor"
I can't help it! My camera is most likely the crappiest one here! Besides the picture isn't about clarity, it would lose it's depth.

Do you guys really find the comments helpful?

Sometimes I stop myself because I feel I'm saying the same things over and over again. I'm constantly manipulating images for things I do, so I find myself saying, too dark, not enough contrast, too washed out etc etc on a lot of images. I suppose some people believe in the purity of the original, and others don't have the software.

Anyway, I'm enjoying myself. Great to see all the different takes on the concept. :o)

Go to your profile page. There is a check-box to let you display current scores/comments.

I went and checked under "My Preference" and confirmed that I have "Show scores and comments for my submissions during voting week." checked. However, in "My Profile", I only see this:

//photos.imageevent.com/atwl77/hosting//problem.jpg

Is there a problem with my submission? This is my first time so I hope I didn't do anything wrong when I submitted....

Thanks.

EDIT: One more thing, when I clicked the link "Received: 8", the page says that I did not receive any comments.

I try my best to submit a photo that will pull a '6' or better for each challenge. If I feel it will not pull a six, I will not submit it.

So far I have been pretty accurate (with a few exceptions).

I found it, thanks! I was looking at the wrong place, my bad!

Anyway, I got:

Wow, I'm impressed as this is my first "serious" photographic attempt.

Thanks again,

For a brief moment, I peaked above 7 - so for my 3rd entry I'm really stoked :) It's sliding down slowly, but I sure am hoping that it will place in the top 10
Funny thing is, I didn't particularly like the shot - but seems everyone else does.
My favourite shot (in Letter B challenge) is actually doing the worst ??

Been creeping up from under 5.5 since the first time I checked it on Monday morning. The majority of my bad votes were, it seems, were in the wee hours of Monday. Just an observation. Anyone else see this trend? Grumpy early Monday morning voters I guess.....lol

Ever since my original post it's been going down. Somebody's playing with my mind aren't they?........lol

Since you asked here are my scores thus far:

Votes :159
Avg vote 4.47
comments: 5

It is pretty discouraging when you try your best and when you look at the previous submissions vote break down and the bulk of the votes are ones and twos.

I'm another first timer. The photo I entered went against the normal thinking where speed is concerned and was a bit overpixelated.
Digital photos are pretty much only as good as the camera's capabilities and mine is greatly lacking.
However, I find myself with 172 votes, a 4.0174 average and 5 comments.
A good enough score for my first time out, considering that I haven't seen any perfect 10's so that means I came out closer to the middle than the bottom.
I do wish more would take the time to comment. It appears that many gave me scores of 5 or less and I would have liked to have known thier opinion. (if you voted on my photo and didn't leave a comment, I think you can still go back and leave one)
I am interested in what others think of my work. There are many times when criticism can be used to one's advantage if one can learn to separate thier emotional bond to thier work.
Thanks for listening. Blessings to all.

I did start the week off though when I first checked at a 6.5 and have steadily dropped to a 5.8 but I won't complain!!!!

funny, I seem to get passed over for votes... I still only have about 150. Maybe I am at the end of the set

Isn't there some sort of random rotation of the entries to ensure that some pictures don't get missed due to the minimum 20% vote rule? My wife claims I do better when I enter early, maybe she has something there. In any case, if there's no "random shuffle" of entries, there should be. My bet is that there already is one in place. Does anyone know?

5.72...177 votes... must be getting near the end. Don't these stragglers realize that we want a final result!
don't they know we need to have a popular consensus put a digit on our work!! I NEED!

how do you post a thumbnail (or any pic) on here?

go to the page where your picture is displayed, right click on picture and select properties. In the properties you see the Address url. Copy it and paste it where it says url here. *edit Haven't done thumbnails yet but if you look at a post where someone has done it, by pushing the "quote" button you'll see how it was coded.

Check the forum code howto in my signature - hopefully that will help.

I just finished rating the speed challenge...
Quite frankly, that was painful after the previous three challenges I had the pleasure of reviewing and voting on...

I disagree - i think there were some great images in there. Maybe not up to the standard of some of the other challenges (or perhaps the topic was less appealing), but certainly not painful.

Painful is when you drink pickle juice and have forgotten that you got a paper cut on your sunburned tongue.

Good point, Pedro...
Maybe I am just grumpy cause it will not quit raining here in Atlanta!
(and cause I cant think of anything to submit for my first challenge in the unanswered questions one!)
