be sure of your file size.. and don't make the posted image too small. Most of us try to stay to the 640 pixels on the longest side.

Also.. be sure to fully read and understand the rules for submission before beginning...

most important.. have fun, and welcome! :)

Yeah, welcome! Get ready for uploading some simply brilliant images and having them rated 1 by some disgruntled individuals who don't understand creativity!! ;-]

Seriously though it's good fun, addictive and quite psychologically revealing!! Good luck.

Take a good look at the winning photo's and learn from them.

And very important check if your photo was uploaded correctly. I was in a hurry once and forgot to rotate my photo. The only good thing was that it received a lot of comments, too bad they all offered the same advice ;-)

Hi am new here too. I don't have a digital camera yet. I amthinking about buying a Fujifilm A303, Does anyone here have one that could tell me how you like it. I am sort of a point and shoot person. But am giving serious thought to getting a tripod and trying my hand at photography.

I think the best thing to do is look around the site at some images... see what camera was behind it all, and then also do some research dpreview.com

Welcome!

Hi Marilyn!!!!!!! :-)

Welcome to you and DragonBro.

When you submit, you will find things out about your pictures you never suspected. :-) Go with it, and it will help you look at life in a new way.

Oh yea, this site has the potential to be addictive. Be warned.

I'm not familiar with that one, but someone just posted a recommendation for the Fuji 602. Check out the threads currently running on Digital vs. SLR and SLR for current comments. If you go to the "Community>Forums" menu item you can also browse among the various Hardware threads.

But I and many others use "point-and-shoot" equipment. personally, I think your approach and attitude are more important. Have fun!
