i would like to know what is the top 3 lighting books for portraits,fashion and studio photography.

Top 3 from my bookshelf:

Learning to Light by Roger Hicks and Frances Schultz
Portrait Photography, The Art of Seeing Light by Don Blair
Corrective Lighting and Posing by Jeff Smith

The last 2 are Amherst books, quick reading but very informative.

I think this is one of the best books for lighting.

Photographing People: Portraits - Fashion - Glamour

It shows tons of photos and then breaks down the lighting for each, including diagrams showing how the lights and reflectors are set up.
