You should give the replicas a lower score than a 10. It only encourages them to do it again. :P

Yeah I know - but I try to vote on each pic individually. :) Doesn't mean I can't rant out here about their creative lacks.

Yeah, I saw some shots that were similar to ones I'd seen before, but there are a LOT of really outstanding pieces of work in this lot! My hat's off to everyone who entered. I think this will be a very high scoring challenge - I know I've given out a ton of high scores. And don't worry Shannon, you won't have to DQ me to ribbon! ROFL :-)

Maybe it's a bit harsh, but if I see a shot that's a complete clone of previous work, I rate it very low.The mentallity of "I'll shoot what won last time, so I can win this time" burns me. ;o)

LOL

If it's not yours, someone thought you had a great idea once.

the copies don't bother me much, though i'm not about to give an obvious straight up copy a very high score... and speaking of copies, anyone notice that a few of the pics are almost exactly the same as pics in collections? i just finished my first run through both challenges and there are at least 2 that were obviously different angles from the same shoot... an odd choice, i'd think...

and i do agree with the over use of neat image. several images i thought i'd really vote high from the thumbnail, got lower scores when i saw them full size...

all in all, though, more good than bad... i generally like to keep to the bell curve in voting, but it's gonna be shifted hard to the right on this one, for sure...

Awww, now that's not nice. Kiwiness has had a great idea three times. ;-)

See, I looked through the shots and started voting - the "best" shots are all replicas of stuff that's already been done here. Oh, I see Heida. I see Dave Sidwell. I see Kiwiness. I see Joey. I see Librodo.

SSDD with this one...

I feel like posting links to the replicated shots in the comments. lol

Did you see a JPR? If you did make sure to mention it in the comment. If you didn't then why aren't people out there making JPR's. I feel insulted. :)

Yeah, you tell 'em!!!! Me too.

Sorry, my mind is not working quite right today. We had our wood floors refinished, today they put on the final coat, and the smell is giving me a tremendous headache [looking for sympathy here :) ]. I'm going for a walk.

I usually look at a copycat shot as an homage. I'd be really honored if someone chose to copy something I did. With that being said, I also consider that the person has accepted the high standard that comes with it. If they did not "meet up" to the original, it is reflected in my score; in other words, I am a harsher critic if the attempt is not up to snuff. Thems the chances you take...

I see every single sunset-with-water as an obvious attempt to rip off my territory, and it makes me chuckle :-)

(in case anyone doubts it, this is sarcasm...)

Where are all these people that praised the challenge? I just got a 2 for my entry, w/o comment.I'm normally fine with 2s when I'm hovering about 5, but when hovering about 6 I must ask myself...

Stop. Who am I kidding. I've been here long enough to realize that $h!t like this happens. On with the show...

You mean you haven't patented that technique yet?

Well, I've been through 225 shots and looked at the rest of the thumbnails. I saw a Scalvert and a Setzler, and maybe a librodo, but that was it.

Oh, and I saw lots of bears...

Oh, we're everywhere! If you can identify mine, I'll send you a print! Just leave a comment before challenge end: "I see you, bear!". I'll check your comments to make sure you didn't say that to evreyone :-) Even a single duplicate comment invalidates your entry...
