What photo editing software do you use?

I primarily use Paint Shop Pro 9. When I save, there is a button titled "Options." This brings up a new screen that has a sliding bar that allows me to adjust the compression of the file. Usually, 10 works for me. I know Photo Shop has something similar. This is how I reduce that actual file size versus the dimensions of my images.

I have PSP8. When I go to save normally, by going to file and doing a "save as", I "usually" get an automatic drop list that goes straight to JPG unless I want to change that. .....

Just curious, as I'm not familiar with PSP, but is "Save for Web" not an option in PSP? This would probably solve the problem with file size saving the loss of dimensions.

No, not an option, but really...it's not THAT difficult.

Jen .. no there is no "save for web" as an option on PSP. I use PSP10 but I never have a problem resizing for the web.

I've had PSP 6, 7 and now 9 and none had a "Save for the web." The option is there to compress but it is a little different in each version. PSP6 was easy, 7 a little more complicated. PSP9 makes is very easy as far as I am concerned.

Edited because my 2 year old was helping me type and I missed a couple of the extra keys he put in for me. :-)

By the way, I am one of your "4" voters. Sorry to say. But personally I just don't like photos with people in them unless it is a portrait challenge. I find it gives away anonymity IF it is your spouse, offspring, etc, because others "may" know you or them on here or have seen you use them before, and I feel it can influence voters.....

... So I start at a 5 automatically, and if I like the subject matter it goes up from there including technical aspects. If I dont like the subject matter then it goes down by one point and I move on to the next entry. Unless it is extremely boring and distasteful or truly technically bad, then I move it down to the 1's and 2's, in which I usually give comment to those.

Well, I'm glad there are folks like me around to balance this out then. I'm just the opposite in my likes, in that I tend to gravitate more towards photos with people. They seem more personal to me and a bit more interesting. That is not to say that I vote lower on other types of photos though. There are alot of factors that go into my voting decisions, technical skill, subject matter, composition, challenge relativity being just a few. But to single photos out "Just because" of their subject matter and start them at a lower score seems a little limiting. Just my opinion though. We all have a right to vote how we like and we also have the right to state our opinions on why we vote the way we do. At least you are honest and open about it. :-)

So did you enjoy this one jenesis?

Yes I did and I left you a comment Jason. :-)

Thanks Jenesis (and MrsFuzzButt)...

Very good comments. (Yeah, I'd like a little bit more hair on top. It's very hard when shooting candids to get that perfect crops as you catch them just passing by.) The point about sharpening the eyes was good. It was one of the photos weaknesses. I do so little editing on many of my shots. I forgot that I could do such things in advanced editing. (I also need to get more familiar with PSP)
