As some know I am a beginner....a true beginner with less than a year under my belt. I was taking shots at my daughters wedding reception for us in addition to what the photographer I hired was taking.
My friend is a musician and I took a few shots and he fell in love with one and wants to buy it to use on his web page and maybe on a CD cover that is upcoming. If I do agree to sell it to him I would want to do the shot over and have him wear French cuffs with cufflinks and get more shots with softer light...
I have no idea what price to charge or what is fair....any help would be appreciated as he also mentioned me doing some shoots with him this Spring to use on his website and for future use on upcoming releases.

Nice photo.

I guess the most important thing here is the word 'friend'. I don't know how good or close a friend he is, so I can't recommend how much to charge him. I think you should do a little research first. Find a photographer nearby who had experience in selling, and consult with him. Also, you must be sure if you wanna give him complete rights to the photo or not. I mean, do you want to sell the photo to him forever and charge him once, or do you want to earn money everytime he uses the photo.

I am sure someone else more experienced will tell you in more detail. Take care.

Thanks...yes he is a friend and I offered it to him for FREE because of that but he told me he wants to pay for its use in hopes that it will spark me to continue just as he was sparked years ago by his first PAYING job as musician when he was just happy to play and would have done it for FREE if they had not insisted.
I am going to do some research and he wants to do some shoots later for future work...
Thanks for the thoughts...much appreciated.
