My username has evolved since 1993 but has always carried a similar tone.

First I was "LennieSmall" (Of Mice and Men)
then "Zero" (as in nothing)
then "Morphine" (as in the band of course)
then "Zeromorph" (because my girlfriend said Morphine and Zero were too negative)

and finally I am "Megatherian" which means Giant Sloth because I got sick a few years ago and haven't been able to leave my basement (where my computer is) much since. Plus giant sloth's are AWESOME!

Okay, ready for this? :))

1.) Charles Mingus wrote a song called' "Goodbye Porkpie Hat", as a tribute to saxophonist Lester Young, who frequently wore a porkpie hat.

2.) I once had a cat that I named "Quark" (not after the alien tv character - this was long before that - but after the subatomic particle).

3.) Quark ran away, never to be seen again. Thinking of the Mingus tune, I paraphrased, "Goodbye Quark, my cat.

4.) Then, I thought to myself, "hmmmm, porkpie, "Quark-Pi". So, I joined Quark and Pi (3.14...) and got "Quark314"

5.) So, to honor Mingus and my cat (not to mention my love of science and math), I decided to use Quark314 as a screen name a few years ago and have used it in various places since then, DPC being the most recent.

So there you have it. Pretty twisted, eh? :)) :))

Caedmon's Hymn.

'meotodes meahte and his modgethanc'

It translates to 'mind-plans' in old English, and after studying Caedmon's Hymn in my English class last spring, I decided to go and register modgethanc.com and it started off as a site to keep track of all the crazy stuff we did in that class, and now is just a digital dumpspot for me...but I keep the name.

When I was a child, there was a comic strip I loved called: Terry and the Pirates...the villain was a woman: Dragonlady
I thought she was really cool...hence, the name.

Was pretty low on energy when I was thinking of my site name.

My nickname in college was Jose because of a corny joke I told (think USA National Anthem). 3032 was my platoon number in boot camp - Parris Island. Since both came into my life about the same time, I chose this screen name for email, im, and most other things internetty.
