:) Thanks Chris!

From main page click on About Us (at the bottom), from there, find Contributors along the top, from there look for a link toward bottom of page "how to get started".

Took me a while to find too.

When you do get there you'll find a blurb that says "For submission information, send an email to one of the following addresses, you chose one based on where in the world you live. Send an email and ask for submission guidelines. I got my reply email in about 30 minutes (I linked my main webpage to the request, not sure if that mattered though).

I will keep you posted on progress. Kinda doubt my first application will pass, but who knows.

Arrr, thanks for that...

I might put a submission in as well, and keep folks posted on if I get 'in' so to speak.

Cheers, Me.

Great shots id!

My nitpick, or at least suggestion, for the money shot - get clean crispy bills and shiny coins from the bank, the bent corner on the fiver and dirty quarter distract me. As does the upside down ten. Then again I am one of those who orders their bills.

Good luck ma'am, they would be fools to not accept.

I wanted to be a getty girl but they said my hair was too mussed.

Hahaaa! JP, I folded the corner of the 5 and flipped the 10 JUST for you. Knew it would make someone crazy! :P

Thanks for the luck, much appreciated! :) And ... you have hair?? :P

That was taken just before I started my late 90s "The Return of The Hair" tour:

One week passes. I HATE waiting!

btw, JP, you're a nut!

The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more card
You take it on faith
You take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part

Soon. Soon. Then you will be the Getty Girl, and all will envy.

Nut?

Now you've got me all suspensed up too :P

Out of curiosity, are the images you submitted scanned slides/film or images taken with your 20D? I met a photographer who submits to Getty and talked with him for a morning, and he told me that the only digital cameras Getty took images from were the 12+ MP ones, but he was shooting all film so I don't know how accurate his information was. I was thinking about upgrading to the 20D next year but sort-of changed my mined to the 5D so I could start building a portfolio of higher-res images. I'd be interested to know if you found out anything about pure-digital submissions. Anyway, good luck with the waiting and don't wear out your fingernails :)

Thanks for the good wishes, Ben.
Those are all digital shots from my 20D. Not sure how getty would know the difference about MP size during application process as they request only low quality (72dpi) images linked to email or on a webpage for their initial review. Oh, and they asked NO equipment questions, perhaps that's farther in the process.

Still waiting.......

Actually, you had to keep reading:

This comes straight from an art director friend of mine at Getty. I haven't heard of any agency not excepting work from the 1DS mkII. Hope this helps, Mike.

Digital Equipment Reviews

Our panel of independent experts have reviewed the latest digital equipment to help provide guidelines on what we consider to be acceptable images for submission to Getty Images.

Nikon D2X - approved
Canon EOS 1D 'Mark II'- approved
Canon's digital 35mm SLR: EOS 1DS 'mk2' - approved
Canon's digital 35mm camera: EOS 1DS - approved
Canon's 20D semi-professional digital SLR - not approved
Kodak DCSPRO SLR/c - not approved
IMPORTANT NOTE: (21-Mar-05) At present, the Canon EOS 1D 'Mark II', Canon EOS 1DS mk2, Canon EOS 1DS and the Nikon D2X are the only digital
cameras approved by Getty Images in the 35mm digital category.
This list will be added to with results from our digital testing team.
Please check this website for future reviews.
All medium format backs (eg backs by Phase and Leaf) produce
sufficiently high quality images to fall within Getty Images' standard
submission requirements.

So mine will likely be rejected if this is true.

#*&%^ bastards.

I've said it before - they'd be fools not to accept your work.
11/22/2005 02:35:37 PM · #49
Well so far I've only posted my sample shots online and have not submitted (or been asked for) any equipment information...
