I've been trying different editing software and I can't seem to make up my mind. I'm demo-ing PhotoImpact 11, Paint Shop Pro X. PS CS2 is way out of my range, so it's not really an option. Elements 4 was ok. I think I am mainly looking at PI 11 or PSPx. Any thoughts?

Elements 4 - learning that will help you learn PS down the road. i'm an old PSP guy too so .. either of those are great.

I used photoimpact, back in version 5 i think, and i liked it. I switched to PS for work as I needed to be able to do CMYK pics for publications, adn PI wouldn't do it right.

I want CS2, but, umm, can't upgrade my 7.0, so I have to one day find the funds to buy it all over again.

If you go to those computer shows that seem to be in every area, you can get an 'educaional' version for $200 or so.

I use PI 10 currently and will be upgrading to PI 11 before the month is out. I also have PS 6 installed, Elements 2, and a bunch of other stuff. I find myself using PI for everything and as such have not upgraded anything except for that.

Thanks for the input. I think I'm starting to lean more towards PI-11 but I really like the browser window on PSPX. They both seem to have very similar functions. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH. I'm losing my mind.

I use CS2 and I can tell you that is far the best of all. It's a little bit hard at the begining but in 2 weeks time(if u study seriously) you can learn basic photo editing. :) Good luck!

I agree with mavrik. Elements 4 will be of great benefit for future PS use. I've used PS since v 2.5 and also have used various versions of PSP, off and on, since its shareware beginnings. Obviously, PS is king of the hill but PSP ain't too shabby, either. Unfortunately, I can't speak to PI, as I have not used it. But my fiance uses it all the time and swears by it (not at it) so, it must be decent.

Are you a student or an educator, or do you know a student or educator? If so, you can get CS2 at a significant discount.
