I was wondering how many people edit their pictures on a laptop. I was thinking of buying a laptop for editing since it is mobile and I can take it with me. Those of you that do edit on a laptop, which one would you recommend for the best screen.

I do my editing on a lap top, then transfer to my pc and see how it looks on that screen and ill check how it looks at work, because my first entry i edited on my lap top and it was really dark and no one what it was.

i would say the best screen is those new one where you can see the picture from all angles it is really clear, i forgot the name of it though.

I use my aging PowerBook G3 (2000) for photo editing on the road. The new PowerBooks are a lot better and faster with more storage, better and brighter hi-res LCD's. A 15" PowerBook G4 would be more than enough for Photo editing on the road. Some people use the 12" PowerBoook even because of its extreme portability.

I do because that's what is available to me. I don't really see that it's bad. And honestly I seem to have fewer problems with contrast and color that many people I see around here based on the many other posts and entries I've seen. Occasionally I check an entry of mine on a desktop PC, but I've never felt I needed to change anything at that point.

I have an IBM thinkpad. Whether it's the best screen or not, I have no idea. It's the only laptop I've ever used.

I just got a 15 inch Mac ibook. I wouldn't do any serious editing on it because the rez isn't as good as my PC's at home. I've been carrying it around to get a quick idea of what I've shot and do simple editing to see if I need to rethink the shoot and that's about it. The Powerbooks kick booty but cost a ton.

I'm no expert but I'd suggest looking at the higher rez, 15 inch screens and go from there. I suppose that's a no brainer.

I bought a laptop a few years back now and then purchased a PC this year. Of the two, the PC screen offers me far and away the best viewing options when editing my photos.

A friend of mine was touting her business as a digital artist about six years ago now and she was talking about using a laptop to display her work. She the decided against it. I know that the quality of screens have come on leaps and bounds even in the few years that I've had my laptop but you're still getting a second rate image to what you would were you using a PC monitor.

i do editing on my G4 powerbook when I am on the road or two lazy to get up and turn on my desktop. The powerbooks are nice, fast and beautiful displays.

I use a laptop (Apple PowerBook G4) all the time, but I've never had experience using a PC...considering I've hardly ever used a PC. Mine's is a 12 inch screen.

Oh we also do photo editing in our school's Apple Lab and laptops, which are the 12 inch iBooks (since the questions was about the laptops).

I only use a laptop. I use this one with an Ultra XGA screen. I also have a smaller version with the same quality screen and I use that when traveling.

There is no reason why a laptop should have any disadvantages over a desktop PC - except that laptops cost more. But you can get the same processing power and screens up to 17 inch. The only need for a desktop is if you want a larger screen.

Which one did you select out of those 4? I've been looking at laptops as I would like to upgrade this coming up Jan/Feb.

I use a 15 inch Apple Powerbook. It works great for me. I use this even at my home.
