Hi there, sorry if this is not the right forum to thread this. I was just wondering how request for critiques are handled. I entered 5 challenges so far and I've received one critique (a very good one for that matter - thanks Heather).

And while we're at it, just thought I'd post this too .. Noticed that this photo has collected quite a number of views within a shorter period compared to my other photos. However only 2 comments. So I can't really tell what's not right about it? And if it's not interesting, why more views on this than others? Thought maybe a seasoned DPCer will be able to help me out here. Would be grateful for some "shoot from the hip" critique as well.

1/5 is a pretty good sucess rate actually.
About half the people who enter a challenge click that request a CC button. And there are about 50 people actively doing participating in the CC at any one week to cover it. Therefore, the ratio of people wanting is to people giving does not allow for everyone to get a CC crit every time.
The system might be changed soon - theres a thread on that around here somewhere, but in the mean time, if your want the chance of getting your image looked at by the CC, your best bet is to join the CC and help with the workload.

My guess on the other image is because someone has added it as a favourite it has appeared on the recent favourites page so more people have got to see it than pictures that have just gone straight into your portfolio.

Thanks Elli. Did think about joining CC but not sure I know enough on the technical aspect to be able to give valuable constructive critique. Most of the time, I go by gut feel.

So, the trick is to get listed as favourites, I see ... ; )

BTW, really like your "calendar" collection. You've managed to make mundane subjects look very interesting and beautiful.
