Hanging at mid to upper 5's. 5.7443 right now, but it's moving up and down.
I have gotten great comments though. Or maybe the only ones commenting are the ones that like it. HEE HEE
I think this is going to be a lower scoring challenge overall. So much "controversy" over what's light and what's white.

It's climbing. :) This is awesome. Another last minute entry, but it's doing better than any of my previous ones. I may even crack a 5 before the final totals are in! (that'd be a first!) 2 of my last 3 challengs have scored a 5 (5.009 and 5.018) :D If things keep going the way they are, I may even hit 5.1 or better!
Still gotta break out of doing last-minute entries though... baaad habid to get into.
Comments range from pointing out an obvious problem to "beautiful". The diversity of this site is so enriching. :)

Well I didnt manage to get a better score this time, but the comments have been much better....just wondering if I can contact someone who commented during the challenge voting? or I should wait after the voting is done?

| There's no rule against contact during a challenge, but some people frown on it while others don't mind. If you do it, don't sound like you are campaigning. I've done it from time to time and it's usually because someone misunderstood something in my picture... |

Well I have officially learned my lesson...again...Never enter a last minute photo. I think the photo was good but t I entered it in the last 5 min. and ended up sizing it wrong. I noticved it right away but didnt have time to correct the sizing before they closed it. And my background wasnt technically all white, it was white clouds but they did have some grey in them and judging by this thread I may or may not get points for that.... Oh well, lesson learned I guess.

I don't think the difficulty is the subject..it's the WAY a subject is done.
The real challenge is to take a simple (in this case common) subject and make it interesting or take a risky chance with it.
Every subject worth photographing has been done so many times there is nothing unique left..only the approach is unique.
Don't punish photographers for their subjects, request the photographer to bring their perspective to the photo, even at a risk of not being "popular".
Also, remember, this site is a learning site. You may have seen a million sunsets but for some photographers, this is their first one. Judge their execution, not subject matter. :-) |
