61 people obviously thought this was deserving of a 3 or lower.

WHY?

Is it because they thought I was "cheating" or doing something "illegal" in the shot? I really don't want to sound like I'm ranting, the votes have spoken and I can accept that for the most part. I don't like it, but I accept it. I just want to know why 61 of you gave it 3 or lower...

I was asked to validate the shot during voting which means someone thought I was out of bounds with the shot, what gives?

I want to thank all the people that commented on my shot during voting. For those of you that commented, I want you all to know that I appreciate your comments! Please keep them coming on the future challenges they are very much needed.

Let me start of by saying I didn't vote or enter this challenge, but my guess would be that it wasn't "In" a coffee shop. I suppose some would say that it might not meet the challenge in that regard. But that's just a guess on my part. I don't think it's deserving of below a three cause I think it was nicely executed and thought out. But different folks have different ways of voting and deciding what meets a challenge. It's a cool shot.

I see your point Jenesis about it not "looking like a coffee shop" I guess I took "let your imagination run wild" too literally.

I gave it a 7 naldslc because I thought it was quite clever and the picture is technically good. I didn't give it a 10 because it wasn't "in a coffee shop" or even looked like it.

Just being honest...

Thanks Doc. I really appreciate it. 7's I can live with, thanks again, you kick ass!

I liked the creativity, but thought the coffee aspect of it was incidental or very minor and since it didn't have that big wow factor going for it, I gave it a 5. Not a 7, but I still kick ass too. ;-)

I too did not vote on this challenge and would've probably given a "7". Too bad that it was taken with a kitchen background otherwise higher scores would've been given out.

I didn't enter and didn't vote, but I think you may find that most of the low scorers missed the whole point of your shot, it is after all, at a quick glance, dark and uninteresting.
Only when properly studied is the idea coming across.
I reckon the low votes were from the thumbnail voters, Ie. the ones who decide the vote before the full picture is on screen.

I read some of the comments you got on your photo. I think you model's expression was good for this shot. I don't know why so many people had a hard time with that. I didn't vote but if I had I would have given you an 8. I think it copuld have used some better color or something. I understand your lighting with it in the kitchen it is a cool effect for a good photo. I think it helps that I am able to read you model's expression as well.

I actually requested it to be validated.
Simply because it looks as though the skull and cross bones have been digitally added.
But, the guidelines also suggest that I vote for the picture as though it were legal.
And I did.
I gave it a 7.

UNCLEBRO,

Thank you for your honesty. I really didn't intend on the person that requested validation to come forward. Also, thank you for your kind vote on the picture as well.

Everyone else, Thank you for the feedback! I guess I didn't think people would look so into the kitchen background but I was wrong. That's cool, something for me to keep in mind next time! ;)

Willtorecord: Thanks I was hoping the same thing too! hehe!

Lowe_zone: I wasn't sure why people had a hard time with that either; I was going for campy old school horror. It makes me happy that some people were picking up on my idea. Thank you again.

Kpriest: YOU do and will allways kick ass! hehehee!

Details: Take a photo that represents something you would find in a coffee shop. Let your imagination run wild.

Not sure where it says the photo must be taken in a coffee shop, or was that a personal preference?

Just curious.

I thought it was very clever myself. The only thing that bothered me is with it being a darker photo the lime green border was distracting to me. I gave it a 6 but after a second look I should have given it at least a 7. I can't understand all those lower scores at all.

I think the fact that the woman was dressed as a barista while standing in a kitchen was off-putting. Even if going by the philosophy that the challenge didn't state you had to be in a coffee shop, it looked as though it was trying to pretend to be, but only halfway succeeding. The cupboards and little coffee maker are so obviously from a suburban kitchen, it's distracting.

I'm surprised you were surprised by the validation requests. The green crossbones effect looks very much like a photoshop addition. I think it's very cool that you did that in the original shot, but again not at all surprised people were skeptical about it.

The concept is great though. Had you just went to a coffee shop or something to make the surroundings look more on topic, or at least shot somewhere more neutral I think it would've done much better.

I voted a 6 -- good, but with room for improvement.

I also requested validating because I thought the skull and crossbones might have been digitally added. I gave it a 3 (and a comment) because the challenge was to take something you would find in a coffee shop, and I would not expect to find someone poisoning coffee in a coffee shop. I would have given a much higher score had this been the conspiracy challenge.

HUMMM...Okay, fair enough. Too bad people thought ill of it. I figured, "It's October...let's go for something imaginative and in the sprit of Halloween...." Guess it didn't come off that way to most...

Thanks Chamielle and turquoise919 for your honesty and further comments.

edit to remove sig..
