Okay, I know I shouldn't complain, well I guess I'm not. 5.6 is a decent score. I just think this shot was better than that. My last enty I could deal with the sub 5 score. It's really hard when you think you have a great image, and people just don't like it as much as you think they should. :o(

Why sooooooo many American Flags!!! (And a few pumpkins too)
American Flags may invoke pride for Americans but not me, that could be a reason people with good flag shots are getting lower than their expectations. I think there are a few (and only a few) great shots here, I've just finished voting on all the Pics. I'll fine tune them later

I think the challenge was asking them to take a photograph of what makes them proud. I see it as totally justified that they are proud of their country. Are you not proud of yours? Challenge Description: Take a photograph of what makes you proud. (the photographer, not the viewer)

If someone shot a great picture of a non-American flag I think I could objectively give it a good score, but it woudln't have the same punch that an American flag would have for me simply because I'm not from their country....so I dunno I kinda see both sides.

Fair enough...
Yes I am proud of my country, I'm just not flag person. I voted based on whether the photographer could transfer the pride they had in their subject to me. I'm sorry but pride in flags, (American or any other) just don't do it for me. |

Actually, the challenge was to photograph your interpretation of pride, not what you were proud of. There is more than one meaning of pride. Feeling a sense of worth or accomplishment is one (the one most people chose to photograph,) and another is hautiness, arrogance or self-importance (which only has one or two photographs.)
Sometimes it bites to see things differently. |
