After reviewing the "Greeting Card" challenge. I have an example of a shot that was robbed because of the title. It is A1275's "Wildlife". I thought this shot should have been titled "Missing U". The expression on the face of the snakes fit so well too. To me this was a ribbon contender for sure.

What do you all think, would you have voted differently with a different title?

I agree - The choice of title had a big influence on voting for this challenge.

This shot is a perfect example.

I have no idea, it supposed to be my portfolio I plugged in, kind of a cool thought but I didn't think of it. :) I'll check it out.

When you click on the "my snappies" link...does it go to your portfolio?

yes. It appears somehow it goes to, I assume, anyone who clicks on it home portfolio (like jokes I've seen here). I must have typed something wrong, or someone above is playing a funny trick.

even when I go to your profile and click on the link...it brings me back to my portfolio...

Well, I gave it a "9" as it was.
It was (and is) one heck of a good image.

Please tell me, did you get my title and has it influenced your scoring?

It's only now that I notice the missing loaf on the bottom shelf. It would have been better in the middle.

Also, 'missing your love' isn't really a phrase that's used very much to begin with. Changing it to 'missing your loaf' was stretching it a bit too much.

Ah, thanks. What phrase would have been better, you think?

I liked the title, got it immediately, and scored the image high. Thought it should have done better than it did.

Thanks, your resatted photo did quite well, too. Nice technique/result.

Now to get back to the topic of the thread, would you have scored it different with another title?

"Missing my loaf"
or
"Loaf and Friendship" (just on it's own without the second part)
or
"Lonely without your loaf"

Thinking about it again, I think it's the way you used 'loaf' twice in the phrase. Once would have been more effective.

I think you're right, my original idea was to call it something like "Lots of loaf", but then I cropped the picture with one loaf missing and had to adjust the title to focus on that as well... what people can think, eh?

Got it at a second look and scored it 7. No big gripe. Thought it was a really nice shot, just less "wow" compared to some others.

For me it wasn't the title. It was the subject. The picture is great but I wouldn't send a snake picture to someone if I missed them, ya know? It didn't get a low score from me BTW, just not a high one.

I would send a card for missing someone with this shot. It has great sense of humour, u shapes (missing you), huggging itself (since I can't hug you), expession of its face (forlorn look), green (being love sick), etc. I most of the time send humerous cards, so to me it would be a great card.

If you use the .php it will take the user who clicks to to the releted page to that user. If you want it to link to your own profile you need to include youre user id
//www.dpchallenge.com/profile.php?USER_ID=3569
will go to your profile
//www.dpchallenge.com/portfolio.php?USER_ID=3569&collection_id=1
will go to your portfolio.

Thanks Elli,

I knew I was messing something up, but wasn't sure what or where. Van

"hang in there" would have been a better title imo.

dont think titles carry that much weight actually.

Oh my goodness - I just came across this while searching for something else and was I ever flattered at being discussed in the forums! Wahoo!

Vtruan, thanks so much for your support. I'm psyched you liked the shot so much...

I'll concede it was a crappy title. While I wish the shot ranked a bit higher, I'm not super shocked it didn't.

Thanks everybody!
