Hi,

Is there any slideshow software to play digital images on a PC. I am looking for something like iphoto (Machitosh software), which plays images on full screen giving a fade effect.

Thanks

Webshots has a screen saver function that can do full screen with different transition effects. It's a free download at www.webshots.com

Watch it with Powerpoint: I have seen cases where the powerpoint import-routine had changed the gamma setting of the pictures to make them all look very bland.

You should have slideshow software as part of Nikon View that came with your camera. When using Nikon Browser there is a button on the toolbar that plays a slide show of all selected images (or the whole folder if only one image is selected). Once the slide show is playing, the TAB key shows or hides the preferences box where you can change how long each image is displayed for, choose wipes, screen size, etc, etc.

Hi,
Yes I have the software from Nikon and its working fine on my PC, but when I try to install on any other PC, it doesnt work.. thats surprising. Also am looking for a very simple software which can be installed by anyone.

Try Picasa - it is a windows only program that looks like it should be on a Mac.

www.picasa.net

15 day trial is free and it costs $30

You can also get it from Ritz Camera/ Wolf Camera for the price of developing a roll of film and getting the photo CD

I use ProShow Gold by Photodex. It is a very nice slideshow program (hence the price of $59.95). This program will produce a very professional looking slideshow with music or sound clips and many different transition effects. (You can download the trial version to check it out)

This thread is a year old and it looks like casualguy's not around anymore to ask him questions. Does anybody else use or recommend ProShow Gold? It looks like it has everything I'm wanting. I'm not sure what else is available, though. Thanks.

I use and recommend ProShow Gold as well. I posted about it in this thread. (For really complex stuff where I need the ultimate in control, I use Vegas -- which is a lot, lot more than a "photo slideshow" program. It is a full-blown audio/video editing suite, and is by far and away the best program I have ever used, bar none -- including Photoshop. An absolutely phenomenal program that rewards study with spectacular results.)

I have ProShow Gold and I recomment it. It's easy to use and edit and put music in the slide show.

Thanks. A dumb question. How do I find out what graphics card I have on my system and whether it will support it?
08/24/2004 09:43:43 PM · #14
In today's day and age of Windows, what graphics card you have doesn't matter. It will more than likely "just work". You can download the free trial and see for yourself though. =]

ACDSee is great for slideshows. The free version comes with Pentax cameras. I think you can also download it from the website.

acdsee does slideshows, and so does photoshop album. either one is pretty good, and you can download trial versions of each of them.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to view this slideshow. It requires an xpi plugin, whatever that is. [Mac OS X 10.3.5, Safari].

Have you tried KPT Quickshow? It may only work on OS 9 as far as I'm aware.

This link will start a download of SIT file containg the free software. Simply drag PICT (or JPEG?) files into the folder with the app and double click the icon.

Damn dial-up. I was all set to purchase ProShow Gold locally but I can't find anyone that carries it. For me a cd installation is less headaches because usually I get half way through and I get knocked off line and have to start all over again. Anyway, I went to the website and started the download and it said it would be 5 hours and 21 minutes! Give me a break! Grrrr

Have you tried using something like gozilla to adress the dial-up disconnects? I don't use it myself (broadband user), but it may help you to resume your download after an unexpected disconnect. It appears to be free to try.

Just an update.
I received and loaded my boxed version of ProShow Gold. I'm liking it so far. Thanks for the recommendation.
As for the disconnects...I'm using "catch-a-call" but it quit working correctly a while back. Haven't figured out why, yet.

I have used MySLideShow for a number of Years and it does a great job and is very easy to use. It cost $24 and I have been very satisfied with it. //www.anixsoft.com/myslideshow.html

I have no connection with Anixsoft other than being a satisfies customer. Another biggy is that it turns your sldeshow into and *.exe file which should easily execute on any computer. I do not have problems with making a slideshow, burning to CD, and then giving it away.

Good Luck.

ProShow Gold is @#*!% cool! It is the easiest thing I've ever seen! Within 10 minutes of downloading it, I had a great slideshow. Thank you, thank you, thank you to whomever it was that recommended it!
