Easy Troy...It's a joke. Anybody who clicks on that link will be directed to their own profile...

OK, breathe...count to 10...sit back...and just smile. We've all been there before.

If you eliminate outlier votes, you no longer have a "normal distribution" anyway. The vote-distribution pattern should resemble the Liberty Bell, not the Washington Monument.

Or perhaps you live in Lake Wobegon, where "all the photos are above average ..."

Well, I'm still not saying this is a big problem, but it's sorta fun trying to find these accounts...

I had to glance at about 50 accounts though to find this one. It probably could be settled for sure if a SC person has access to the registered database and can sort by different criteria. You could make these accounts rise to the top easily and see how many there are.

Again, this looks like a 1 challenge account. So is it really changing anything? Naw.

At this point, like most people said, it doesn't matter in the overall scheme of things :)

I just posted that out of frustration when I saw everyone just mulling about their scores and how it remained steady for at least 4 hours :(

I usually agree with bear, but I am starting to see a trend. I like the idea of 1/2/9/10 votes must have a comment. I comment on 80% of those votes anyhow and I think most people try to as well.

I realize that there are a lot of pictures that genuinely deserve a lot of 1's, and mine are in that bunch, but I DO think it is suspicious that my branch photo which was terrible got 8.4% of votes in the 1/2 range. My beverages challenge got 16.7% of its votes in the 1/2 range.

It IS starting to have an effect at that point. On the other hand, I can't say all of those 1/2's were undeserved, it is merely weird to see the numbers increasing in this way.

PS. I have had 10's on both of those challenges as well, and for the record, I don't have any friends voting for me.

Sorry I'm confused. You said your photos were not so good, and complained that they got an increasing percentage of 1s and 2s. Then mentioned these same photos also recieved some 10s! If a average image can recieve a 10 then surely it can also recieve some ones. All this shows is that taste varies.

If the number of ones you recieved was out of proportion to the other votes you would have a problem but both photos scores are a typical bell shaped curve:

*
*
**
***
*****
******
*******
******
*****
***
**
*
*

Its just that the curve is skinnier in the branch entry (most people thought was OK but nothing amazing) than in the beverages entry which recieved a wider range of votes. Its a more unuusal image with very strong post processing so this is not surprising.

As far as I can see the great images win and the poor ones score low. There are plenty of genuine votes and as long as that remains the case there is not a big problem.

A trolls profile would actually look different again, they should vote LOW on the GREAT images and HIGH on only ONE IMAGE. Mediocre entries can safely be given low to reasonable scores as they are no threat, and giving everyone a 1 is sort of obvious. This profile would also be easy to identify. I would imagine there would be a few each challenge but not enough to really matter. After a couple of tries the trolls will figure out they are not getting anywhere and go and annoy someone else.

Unless an obviously awful image wins on the basis of votes from a large number of trolls I don't believe the problem is big enough to worry about.

Of course one of the many benefits of paid membership is a troll free environment (or very close). Not many people will pay $$$ just to vote for themselves or their mates!

I do not believe that compulsary comments or the karma system will help. Both of these will however discourage genuine voters from voting as they think they should which is not ideal.
