Anyone else notice how many people got Complimentary Colors wrong? Or maybe I'm on the wrong page. It would not be the first time. I'd say 30% or more. But in any case there are some great photos in there.

Yep. I noticed that as well. The colors should be opposite the color wheel. Unfortunately, many thought differently.

And so begins the debate yet again. Do you score those great images low for not meeting the challenge?

I thought it was only supposed to be two clours. Is black and white complimentary?

Lower but not what I would call low. Meeting the challenge has to be at least part of the consideration. But I could never bring myself to score a great photo below average just for that reason.

LOL! That is just what I said during the last challenge but I entered this one anyway. I have been going downhill, two 4's in my last 3 entries. This one may keep me in a while if I at least stay above my average of 5.5:

Thank goodness someone posted a color wheel (although it doesn't explain much)! There are quite a few of really nice photos that do not use complementary colors.

To simplify, when you look a color wheel, the colors opposite each other are complements of each other. blue-orange, red-green, violet-yellow. Of course you can use variations of that basic rule such as red & yellow-green or red and blue green or variations of the same rule with white or black added as long as the basic complement tint is there.

there are also many other rules for appealing use of complementary colors such as the balance of the two colors you choose I'll go into that only by request and perhaps on a differnt thread and maybe after the challenge.

to stay on topic:
