I lost the software that came with the camera to import pictures from caera to my computer. I now have a new computer and cannot figure out how to download them from the camera to the computer. Will canon send me new software? Can I download it? (Im not good at the type of thing). Can I buy it anywhere? Thanks in advance?

| You can download the drivers from the Canon site, but if your worried about having problems let me know and ill email them to you with instructions. You should invest in a card reader, i find it more convienient. ive never installed the canon software. |

Not 100% sure what your 300D came with, but if it was ZoomBrowser, I found a copy of version 2.2 to install (don't recall where I found it), then upgraded that to 5.21 (from Canon's site) several months ago.

| What type of card reader do you suggest? Does it plug into the usb or something? |

Any Compact Flash card reader will do most if not all of them are USB a lot of them these days support a variety of cards CF, SD, MMS etc, they are cheap (i paid $15AU), faster than downloading from the camera and no need to install software on a computer runing Windows XP, 2000 etc, this is particularly useful if you want to use your card to transfer files on someone elses computer without having to take the canon sw.

If u have windows XP & you connect your cam. to your pc.
u can download without any external canon program. It's just like when u plug a usb memory stick in your pc. Browse the new found USB-Device in your Computer. |

that doesnt work with the 300D for some reason. It works with most cameras including the very similarly built 10D |
