this might be a silly question, but is it possiable to take black and white images on the camera its self or do i have to do this is PS afterwards... and if so with challenge guidelines does changing to balck and white (no spot touch up tho) fall under basic or advanced editing?

Edit: ignore the guidelines part i just read a line i missed that saies exactly that... *slaps himself over head*

Yes you can do B&W, but need to set it up as a choice in one of the custom menus. Still better to shoot in color and conver yourself. B&W / toned conversion is very common in challenges, open & member.

you can change the colors in basic to b/w without spot editing. I don't know if you can shoot in b/w on the camera, but converting from color gives you a lot more power in editing.

and if you have a copy of photoshop, converting to B&W using the channel mixer, is one of my favorites, and is permissible in open and member challenges
