I'm on pc (my dad's old laptop).

-and great that you like my newest version. I'll try something with the lettering you mentioned kiropractic.

This has been fun, and I've learned ALOT about logo designing :-)

I was going to let you "borrow" a copy of illustrator to "try out" if you had a mac...

Oh, thanks. I think I already tried downloading a trial version of Illustrator, but that got a bit screwed up :-P

Either way, here's another. I tried something different w/ the words.

....And ANOTHER (this is kinda addicting), this one is originally done in vector.

-I've been doing them on Microsoft Paint (cruddy pixel by pixel drawing program that comes with all pc computers).

-Vector art consists of creating paths and points in a program such as Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw, and Flash. These programs keep track of the relationships between these points and paths. Every time the image is scaled, the paths are regenerated: this creates images that are infinitely scalable without degradation. Your basic photoshop/paintshop program should have this feature. It is what most people use when designing logos and stuff.

How do I use vector graphics in PS CS2? Man I hae ALOT to learn.
10/02/2005 10:06:59 PM · #84
You can get a basic comprehension of vectors here
Here is a good example of a creative vector image, and here are some more, if you're interested.

And don't worry. I'm very new to vectors too. Those images are waaaaay
above my basic knowledge :-)

So far, this is the ONLY one that would work, IMO. The others, though interesting, cannot be read via the thumbnail - which means that they can't be read on a letterhead or anything that small or smaller. For a logo to be used on multi products, the simpler the better. You MUST be able to read the name at smallest scale, for instance.

I really like the simplicity of this one!

this is really good but i think the shape of the spine in this one looked better:
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/35274/thumb/238647.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/35274/thumb/238647.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

i may be wrong, but it just seems more natural - in terms of the gentle curves and how it tapers out at the top

STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!! This is a corel draw emergency. Quickly unistall it and install freehand or illustrator. ;o)

seriously though, no real designer uses it. Most use Illustrator. Can you get a copy of that?
10/03/2005 08:07:29 PM · #94
Yeah, I'm about to install Illustrator. I am 'borrowing' it from a 'friend'...
10/03/2005 08:36:42 PM · #95
This is a funny topic. I think MeThoS is probably right in saying serious designers tend to use Illustrator. That's what I use as well. I recommended the Adobe CS package to a friend (not a designer), and he HATED it because of the learning curve. He said that about Photoshop, too. Then he went out and bought Corel Draw and is now singing its praises because it's "easier to use". Go figure.

sure you are :P

I swear by the Creative Suite package from Adobe. You can't beat it. CorelDraw tries but it'll take them a while to be able to catch up.

Okaaaaay, so besides fixing the spine, is there anything else anybody would recomend to make my previous logo any better? Color? Text? Anything?

.....And, here is yet another design concept. Unfortunately the words are totally messed up at the moment due to some.......technical problems :-P

Looks great! ... one minor suggestion... Move Murryville up off of the circle.... keeping it in the circular formation... just up and off of the circle...

Annah, you are doing a great job. These designs just keep getting better. From someone totally clueless about this field (so take this for what it's worth) I'd say you have a good future in graphic design among other artistic type things. :-)
