This time I'm the one who decided to make the picture look nice. It is another mere snapshot, but I did wait around to take said snapshot, so there was a bit of planning involved, but a snapshot nonetheless.

Clicky

Again, asking for feedback on it, suggestions that would make it look better, etc etc.

My friend suggests black and white, but I don't know..

Wait until the light isn't so harsh or move her/him to the shade. The extreme bright light is causing his/her legs to glow on that side.

Thank you, I noticed that too, and I wish I could go back and change that, but the picture is over a year old. >.< But these are learning experiences, even if I don't expect to get really good, ever..

Hang around here long enough and you'll pick up lots of tips and learn from many great folks. I'm very much a beginner, but have learned a lot in the time I have been here and learning more each day. :-)

I fear I lack the motivation to learn enough. I like to learn, but I don't believe i have the skill to do well. Not to mention the resources, I have my camera, and nothing else to work with. There's this $30 strobe light I got to experiment, but I don't even have a 'backdrop', or as far as I'm concerned, a coloured bedsheet. I have tried improvising, but my efforts are to no avail. This hobby is one far too expensive to maintain. :P

Not to change the subject - what's anyone think of this? I sense it's missing something, but what?

I think a smaller aperture would help. It's a shame those flowers in the foreground are out of focus, unless it was your intent to focus on the centre flower, but it really has nothing leading to it. I'm not much of a critic myself, but I agree, it is missing something, I don't know what though.
