Sorry about your misfortune, Deannda, but you certainly don't have the market cornered on stupidity...

I was walking around a small town in Switzerland a few years back, when the bells struck 1:00. Lunchtime. In a matter of minutes, nearly every shop is closed and the streets are deserted. Nothing left to do, so I walked back to the hotel, but the doorknob was locked. Drat... everything is shut down! I tried my key, but it didn't work, so I waited around the front door for a good 15 minutes hoping that someone would come out. Finally, a police officer happened by and I tried to explain my predicament to her. She simply walked up to the door and pushed it open (the knob didn't turn, but it wasn't locked). I stayed in my room for a while... ;-)

Ooooh, this whole incident just makes me want to go home and give my camera a big long hug and tell it how much I love it!

And btw, a lady in our town did drive off with her kid strapped into his car seat on top of the car. He and the seat flew off. He lived. He's fine. I believe he's now in his 20s.

And I thought my mother was awful leaving my brother (her first child) outside the shops and walking home, completely forgetting about him! That's nothing compared with leaving him on top of a car and driving off!!!

How stupid do you feel now??

I am sharing your suffering, but can't suppress a little smile :)

Would hate that it happened to me, but we all do stoopid things in life. Hope camera gets better.

Hey, we all have our moments, don't we. I'm about to tell my most embarassing moment to you guys. I used to work with kindergarteners. It was our class picnic with the parents and kids. We could wear jeans to work that day. Well, I typically wear my jeans more than one day, so the night before I hung them up to wear again to the picnic.

I was standing outside talking to a dad when I happened to look down and there was the day before's underpants coming out of the bottom of my jeans leg. At first I couldn't figure out how my undies could fall off and slide out, then I realized that the worn ones from the day before never made it to the hamper. Damn! I about lost it. I just calmly kept looking straight ahead at the dad, while all the time using my other foot to try to slide the undies back under the jeans leg. When he finally left, I quickly grabbed the undies, scrunched them up, ran into the school and slammed them into my purse.

My "stupid" story. On vacation several years back when my oldest (now 23) was in a car seat - When got back to the car, I quickly got in to start the car because it was really cold. Then, I took her car seat w/ sleeping baby off of the stoller (it became the stroller seat) and locked it into place in the back seat, and slid the stoller part in beside it. Then I shut the door and walked back around to the drivers side. What I had failed to realize is that when I closed the driver's side door the first time, I had locked it. I automatically did the same thing with the back door after strapping in the baby. So I had a sleeping child locked into a running car in a strange town.

My purse and everything was in the car. Of course, at the time no cell phones were around. I finally got someone to call the police for me and they came and unlocked the car. Thank goodness my daughter slept through it all!
