I've been experimenting with Adobe Photoshop Album, which is a program that allows you to catalogue all your digital pictures. There's a feature on there which allows you to export some of your pictures to a virtual 3d gallery using Adobe Atmosphere (still in beta, so a little buggy). The whole process took me 2 minutes, and I have not amended any of the templates.
I've put some of my pics on one of these galleries, and you are cordially invited to check it out here: //www.dolphinfactory.com/photogallery
For those new to Atmosphere, be patient the first time as it will take a little longer to load the plugin (say yes to any popup windows).
Those with a slow dial-up connection will have to be a little more patient as the music and photos load afterwards.
Once the gallery has loaded, I recommend you right-click on the gallery and select 'toolbar'. If you then click on the box with a tick, you should tick 'Collisions' and 'Gravity', and give yourself a decent name in 'Nickname'.
If you click on 'Chat' at the top of the page, you will be able to chat with anyone else who is in the room with you!
If you click and drag the mouse, you will walk around the room... 'Ctrl' and click lets you look up and down.
I'm afraid this only works with Internet Explorer.
Let me know if you have any problems... and let me know if this is something I should explore in more detail... or if it's a bit of a gimmick!

Cheers,

Bob

I tried to load this morning with no luck. No pictuer, menu and buttons didnt work either, there was no prompt for a plugin download.

Im accessing the page from a desktop at a government office, so a lot of our content is filtered, but we are usually prompted if there will be problem viewing content.

Check around with others...

That is kind of cool. I like how it looks like a gallery.

buck4free, are you using Internet Explorer 5+?
How long did you wait for the page to load?
I hope Adobe get their act together on Atmosphere soon, it is a great concept.

That's pretty cool. Neat way to present your images. Is this posted on your own website. How big is the file that it creates? Can it be emailed to people, or is it too heavy?

This is on my website... it's 2.7 Mb, so I guess you could zip it and send it to somebody. They would still have to download the Atmosphere plugin though. You can vary the size depending on how much you compress your pictures, and how small they are resized.
Has anyone experimented with the chat facility?

Nice :)
I think if you're gonna use this tho, you should put frames on your images, so they look more in place and less "stuck in"
