I just took my first trip and did some coastal and landscape images. I need some critiquing and based on the feedback I will edit and try to improve the photo's. I have already made some simple 4x6 prints to show people and have had request for larger prints, but I want to perfect them before I process the prints. Any help is greatly appreciated.. feel free to take them and edit them as well if you find it use full. To see the full portfolio go here CLICK

Alot of your compositions look a little too centered for me, and you could probably fix alot of that by cropping them. One in particular, the one with the seagull, I'd crop to about an 8x10 ratio and place the seagull in the lower right corner. It greatly improves the impact of the photo.

I have been informed that I presented to much of a workload. I just posted all of them because different people are pulled to different images... not that I would want someone to look at all of them... thanks again and sorry if I was confusing :)

I think the biggest problem in many of them is the burned out sky.

Just from the thumbnails, I think the single thing that might help your landscapes the most would be getting up earlier, or staying out later.

Great feedback so far and I thought about the time thing, but unfortunately this was late in the evening. It was so cloudy and foggy that there was no avoiding it... and getting the right setting on the camera to capture the ground, water, rocks and the sky was just to much for my little bad boy. I have a lot to learn about the right settings though so I am sure it was more me. Thanks for the feedback so far and I will keep this in mind and maybe choose a better day next time.

I really like them :-) Reminds me of the trip that my husband and I took there two summers ago. Out of curiosity, where were you along the coast?? One of your pictures looks an awful lot like Beach 5 near Kaloloch Lodge sorta around Forks WA.

But thanks, I really enjoyed looking at these :-)

commented on a bunch of them. I think these are my favorite:

Really love that area. How far did you go hiking?

Thanks to everyone that has posted so far and looked at my images.

Zoomdak - a lot of great comments and I hope to go back and try out some of your suggestions. Thanks!

These are pictures of the Hoh River, Rainforest down the Hoh road, Lake Quinault and Ruby Beach (which is about 5 miles north of Beach 5).

Its beautiful there and I was hoping for a blue sky day, but unfortunately I didn't get it. I would have had much better skys otherwise.

Thanks!

thanks for the comments. I wasn't able to get outside of Seattle as you were, but I hope to be able to make a trip next time to both the Washington and Oregon coasts. You got some really nice shots. Normally I prefer to take natural landscapes, but I'm trying to branch out. I specifically really like your "ruby8" picture...really nice!!!!
