This is driving me crazy. Occasionally when I process an image in Photoshop, save it and then go back to it, the thumbnail is not a snapshot of my changes. It still looks like the original. This seems to happen randomly and sometimes I have been able to go back and correct it, but I don't know how it happens or how I have been able to correct it. I have one now that is not cooperating. Please tell me this is a simple thing to fix and tell me how to fix it.

What version of PS?
What platform/OS?

Do you mean the thumbnail which shows as you browse photos in folders on your computer (Windows preview) or in the PS "Open" dialog box (PS preview)?

Photoshop 6, Windows XP,

When I open the box to browse for the photo, the thumbnail is the original version. When I select it in the box, the edited version shows up in the bottom of the box, that's how I see I have the correct one. This has happened to me a few times before and I have went in and out of it trying to save it different ways, eventually, it corrects, but i don't know how or how I caused it to do it to start.

To begin with, i usually open a file in Photoshop, Make a duplicate and close the original. then I edit the duplicate and save it. Maybe I should save the duplicate a certain way to start, but even if I don't, I have still been able to get it to work, until now.

Have you tried refreshing the browser window? (It's the F5 key in Photoshop CS)

I tried refreshing the browser and it didn't work. But that did get me on the right track. I right clicked on the thumbnail and found that /i can refresh the thumbnail there in the drop down menu. I know that I have never done it this way before, so I still don't have a clue to how i got it to work before or why it's not working automatically like it should. At least I know I can fix it now. If anyone has any other ideas about this, they are welcome to put in 2 cents worth. Thanks for the input everybody.

There may be a preference that you can set to automatically update the thumbnail. (I use CS2 and in the Bridge the thumbs automatically update even if I only do the RAW adjustments without converting.)
