I have to admit I was a bit dissapointet about the results in this challenge....
I think Heiða´s pic was by far the best one in this challenge, and about my own entry .....well I was hoping for a 6 at the most.....

as many commenters pointed out the background isnt all that good and I knew that so I tried replacing it with another .......

but Hey I got a personal best score so I have to say Thank you:)

I gave your shot a 9. I thought it was wonderful. I was torn between two shots, one I adjusted the levels and liked the edgy look (obviously didn't garner high votes) the other was a bit softer.

Either way I enjoyed taking and the outcome of both shots...I would have thought Ronin would have ranked higher. Just keep doing what you enjoy :)

I have to disagree with you on this challenge. The top three are very well done and deserve the ribbons.

I was more impressed that the voters didn't just hand the ribbon to librodo's entry. It was obvious that it was his, but I don't think it was one of his better entries. It gives me hope that voters don't automatically give his entries a 10 just because it's him.

True true:)

I stuck my face in a fish tank for this, and what do I get... a 5 point whatever.
:-(

Granted, I had a tough time keeping my eyes open and I'm not so pretty to look at. I thought the unusual-factor would help. Ah well, I guess nothing will help my face... not a fish tank, not chocolate.

I agree that the top 3 were deserved and great shots...I was really hoping that the ballerina would take a ribbon and was happy to see it. Ronin was in my top 10 shots for the competition and thought it would do better. -not trying to take anything away from the winners, only to continue to take shots that are meaningfull to the photographer - regardless of the votes.

Is it just me, or does someone else think the 2nd and 3rd place models actually look like they could be sisters! Great look!

I think Rainy Days is by far the most underrated photo in this challenge

But that's life I guess

Now why didn't you stick your model's face in a fish-tank, NightShy?

I disagree. 8 of the top 10 were photos of females, which is exactly what I expected would happen. Maybe.. you can say Sonifo's and elsapo's photos were better but not steinar's (btw, no disrepect there).

140 of the entries are female. I didn't bother counting the entries with babies or little kids where I couldn't tell. Or the ones with a male and female in it.Then of course there are the non-human shots...

the point... of course the majority of the top 10 are female.

I'm a little pissed off too. I knew, that I certainly would have ribboned if I threw this guy in a black dress with sexy pink pumps...(which was actually one of my outakes BTW)but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I always seem to choose the wrong photo to enter.....

I am not going to talk about ribbons, but I think you presented a great image. Don't think about ribbons or scores. Go out and shoot what you like shooting. Don't generalize DPC either. There will always be people on DPC who would like, love or adore your work no matter if you shoot desperate people on the streets or poodles wearing Gucci. Trust yourself, your thoughts and your instincts. Find things you love and do it.

Ooops. I'm sorry I was trying to make a joke. I'm really happy with my place in the Challenge. Not "pissed off" at all. I do think beauty would have trumped my image no matter what though. Doesn't mean a thing to me in the slightest.

I'll keep on shooting what I'm shooting. That won't change.....

Yeah and there were 90 entries with clearly just a male in it and to no surprise I found more and more of them as I went further down the rankings. The only point I was making was the photo in this thread is inheritly at a disadvantage because it was a picture of male. I could be wrong but has there ever been a portrait contest at this site that resulted in large number of high ranking male photos?

Shame I couldn't get my son to pose in high heels for me...

Surprised it ended up over 4.000 - LOL

When my daughter saw this picture, she said "That's Zac!"
Just gotta' have fun sometimes, phooey on a score.

And who would have thought this would have gotten 62nd place?
