As a great image it's a 7 (that's high for my voting). For the Liquid challange, sorry, a 1 for not meeting the challenge specifications. There actually was one there very similar and I can only assume you didn't see it.

For me it's the matter of the way u interprete the LIQUID part. In my opinion, the subject should bot be too literally taken as 'liquid' in LIQUID. Anyway thanks for giving comment, I havent vote the challenge yet.

From the challenge outline:

Here's the catch -- NOT water! Good luck.

In all fairness, you did get the "NOT water" thing right. Then again some people go out their way to meet the challenges literally. I mean, what's the point of themed challenges if people are going to be going off on all kinds of tangents. Might as well make it a free for all and shoot what ever you want. Then every week we'd have the same select group winning. And the "not so good" of us would become discouraged and really not learn to become better photographers.

Hi Anna,
For the record, I really like your interpretation of the challenge. I think the image has great potential; I wold suggest a few very minor changes to enhance the presentation:

First, a bit of minor curves adjustment:
- Increase contrast just slightly
- Warm the skin tones bit
- emphasize the reds just a bit

Second, apply a gaussian blur of about 4-5 px (specifically allowed under DPC rules) and fade the blur to about 20-25%. Result is a slightly softer look that deemphasizes the extreme detail in the skin.

I tried the above with your posted image in Photoshop, and the difference was quite amazing. I think you could have done very well indeed with this image.

Well I can see where you got the "Liquid" aspect of your Photo. I'm pretty open minded about these things and wouldn't have scored you down, but in the voting I might point out photos that could score low from other people.

On the flip side, I personally don't find body part Photos or Photos of total strangers very appealing, unless the Photo really clicks. In you case, I don't see it clicking. Technically it is a very good Macro, with very tight DoF. Very crisp. I think the skin tone is a little too washed out. Maybe place the lips a little lower in the crop.

One thing that bothers me a little, is that the lips are just there. They aren't doing anything interesting. Maybe if they were parted just a bit, or somehow... i don't know, smiling/frowning/something. They are narually relaxed, and kind of boring. It just doesn't do it for me.

Overall 5 (average)

Oh and you Photo is slightly over the 150K @ 153679 bytes.

I like what Kirbic said about Softening the Photo, and warming the tones. That would help. I have never tried the Gaussian Blur, but hey I'm still new.
