First congratulations Lianne on your win, it was very well deserved. I want to go and drive that road. But I'm wondering how it is that the camera information is unavailable? Aren't we supposed to have that info? Anyway, great job!

Yup, congratulations Lianne - very attention grabing shot.
Where's the road, I've got a great car for that kind of road...

Thanks ever'body! :o) i tried all sorts of curvy things but wasn't happy with any of them, then i remembered this road...

Tim, that's the bummer about this camera...in the beginning, when i realized digital cameras could provide shutter and aperture info, i nearly tore the manual apart looking for a way to turn it on since i never take notes in the field, i knew it would only help me learn faster...but alas, there was nothing to be done, it only provides date, time and size, ergh!!

Gordon, it's route 97 in New York State, area called Hawk's Nest just up the Delaware River from Port Jervis. Once we saw a lone car just made for a road like this and it was such a beautiful sight moving thru the curves, the way it hugged the road, it killed me because i didn't have a camera with me, so if that great car you've got should just happen to be a 'vette, let me know when you're goin' cause i wanna get a pic!!

Hmm, New York State is a bit far to be driving to in a convertable from Texas - I'll just have to go and find some like it in the Hill Country ;)

Great shot though - a cool car on it would have been a killer shot...

Hey Lianne -
Congrats on the shot. When I saw the road, my first thought was also, "I want to drive there". Unfortunately we live in southern CA, so taking our vette out there would be a wee bit of a trip. But if we ever go I'll let you know. There's nothing like the shiny mag red taking the curves at hair-raising speeds. If anyone knows of a road like that closer to where I live in CA, please let me know!

Nod. True. Although a mountainous road would be better. The PCH also has waaay too much traffic.
We've gone up around here (like to Julian, Idyllwild, etc) and it's fun but the curves are nothing like the picture above. But of course, time permitting we're heading up to San Fran this summer.

If you get a bit farther North, State Highways 299 and 96 through the Trinity Alps have some good overlooks, and for something truly preciptious try the Mount Hamilton road up to Lick Observatory (near San Jose).
