Does the Canon Rebel have TTL Flash metering capabilities that is compatable with the Canon 580EX Flash unit??

Nice to know before ya fork out huge bucks for the 580EX

yes, but it won't do flash exposure compensation unless you do it on flash or install the firmware hack for the rebel.

What john said...

And FEC with the 580 is really quick on a 300, just push the button in the center of the 'dial' on the back of the flash, and crank in the exposure comp. (+2/3rds almost always it seems, BTW.)

read this:

For info on EOS flash metering, and more information that you ever asked for.. It is worth noting how EOS gear figures out the flash and main exposure seperately, as it will explain some of the weird results you get. :-).

Cheers, Me.
