Famous Artists:

Recreate a famous artwork by a known artist with your camera using lighting, and pose. NO "EFFECTS" ie charcoal, pencil, paint daubs, etc... allowed.

Secrets:

Your secrets. Something no one here knows about you.

There are my suggestions for the year :)

Togetherness Show us things that naturally do (or maybe should) go together.

Edit - because my fingers are doing their own thing instead of just typing. Darn those fingers . .

Photomontage in the same idea as Art ROFLMAO's Godzilla pictures

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/28742/thumb/437604.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/28742/thumb/437604.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

How about Langdon or Drew put a high res picture up of a particular object, and everyone downloads and works it into one of their own pictures in the most creative/amusing way they can. Then upload challenge entry as normal ?

Edit to add this would obviously be advanced or expert editing . .well obviously really . .D'oh

When Fruit and Veg go bad . . as the title says and inspired by shots like

' . substr('https://images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/hidden.png', strrpos('https://images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/hidden.png', '/') + 1) . '

and the Nipple ring in the lemon on this shot

' . substr('https://images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/hidden.png', strrpos('https://images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/hidden.png', '/') + 1) . '

How about Reflections......?????

I really like this idea, it would make me more creative and think outside the box.

Create an image that involves two opposites: ie: love/hate; sweet/sour; happy/sad.........

It would really encourage people to think out of the box, and use more than one image if they wanted. It could be fun.

Chaos - Represent chaos in a photograph

Insomnia - Photograph what you feel when you can't fall asleep

First Line - Take the opening line from a famous literary work and take a photo to match. Title your entry with the opening line. (Perhaps have a list of novels etc somewhere to choose from.)

First Line II - Create a sentence that sounds like a good opening line from a story. Take a photo to go with it, and title it with your sentence.

Busy Background - Have your subject be enhanced by a busy background. (I maybe remember something like this happening before?)

Restricted Free Study - Photograph anything except landscapes and portraits.

Expert editing may suit challenges like Chaos or Insomnia more than other rulesets. First Line and Busy Background were just floating around in my head.. and Restricted Free Study is something I've always thought would be interesting.

Macro and Flowers, here we come. ROFLMAO

I like the idea, was just kidding.

My suggestion:

The Golden Years

For example, what happens after retirement age? For some, life is great, for others, not so great. Highlight the plights and pleasures of the elderly.

Don't forget pets.

Well my idea for the restricted free study wasn't to get rid of all the commonly used themes but just the couple main ones that (at least from what I have been able to tell) are winning a lot lately. *shrug* Probably a bad idea to have a challenge just for that reason? But I dunno. Just thought I'd put it out there.

I don't think anyone was mocking the idea, just having a little fun. ;o)

Pet/Resemblance Challenge

I started this thread with a suggestion before I realized this brainstorming thread was going on. Basically, it would be interesting to see how many people and their pets resemble each other. I don't mean a picture of an owner and their pet but ones where the pet actually resembles the owner and vice versa.

Logos - Expert Editing. Using Expert Editings rules allowing multiple photographs if you need to, create a picture of company logos that makes a point. It may be humourous or serious, factual or fatuous.

How about Wood/Timber but no trees, so the wood has to be constructed into something man-made.

Or Stone same rules, must be constructed.

First Lines - Take a photo inspired by a famous first line from some literary work. Use the first line as the title of your photo. Example: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." - Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens

Rural/Urban (Open challenge suggestion) - Take a photo that evokes a rural/urban setting.

Photographers - Take a photo of a person taking photos. (very meta ;)
