Colors in photoshop look nothing like colors in windows preview. Windows preview looks like camera's screen.

What did I mess up in photoshop? Somebody tell me, please!

Nick

It looks the same to me. Maybe some of the settings of your screen are not right or also it could be the display settings in photoshop itself.

might be the difference between RGB and sRGB?

They look the same...

They look different on my monitor... but I have no idea what would cause that. Eek.

I definetly see a difference in color. I don't have much knowledge on how to fix it though. I just wanted to chime in that I see it. :-) Might try what Sher said.

i see the difference, in the plane one the top one the sky is more purple to me, while in the building one the bottom one is more rosy in color. it must be something to do with the color profiles.

Those pictures where taken with different cameras. It must be something I messed up in Photoshop.

Not on my monitor, there is a big difference for sure..
The building in PS has a yellow tint to it and the Windows Preview is more brown.
The sky on the airplane shot almost looks purple in PS, while in Windows Preview its a more of pure blue..

I don't have an answer, but they definitly dont look the same..

I've had the same problem with some of my older photos, but haven't noticed it with my newer ones. I'm not sure if this is a result of switching cameras or switching photoshop versions or switching computers (in the past 2 years I've upgraded all three, but the problem still exists at least in the old photos). I've always assumed it was some sort of color profile issue, but could never figure out what.

They are definitely different.
What you are running into is a color space issue. First, was the camera set to a color space other than sRGB? Like Adobe RGB maybe? If so, PS is probably displaying them in that color space. Anything dosplayed on the web is dosplayed as sRGB, any embedded coor space info is disregarded.
Check the cam settings, and check photoshop's color settings under preferences.

OK, so shot in sRGB. Still need to check how PS is set up. It may well have gotten set up to edit in a color space other than sRGB. Another alternative is that something got changed in proof setup. Check the main menu under "View" and see if "Proof Colors" is checked. If so, uncheck it.

In Photoshop, go to Edit-->Color Settings. In the "Working Spaces" block, what does it say next to "RGB:" ?

It says Preserver Embeded Profile.

If you click on View | Proof Setup | Windows RGB does that fix the color you see in PS? If not, what if you click on Monitor RGB? (I suspect the latter, but try it and see)

That should be in the "Color Management Policies" block. Is there a block that says "Working Spaces"?

It looks good if I select Monitor RGB. But then Proof Color turns on automatically. Should I leave it at that?

Along the same lines, my PS colors are much more vibrant vs. online (especially here). Does anyone else have that problem? Is that also an sRGB conversion issue?

Maybe you can post side by side screenshot the way I have it.

That's the way I have to run mine. Sounds like you and I have the same problem. I don't know how or when my photoshop cs got into this mode. But the colors are wrong (don't match my prints, don't match what I upload to my website, nothing) UNLESS I set it Proof | Monitor RGB. Then the colors in PS match.

I think this might have happened around the time that I calibrated my monitor, but I'm really not sure.
