I think one of the most important skills in photography is telling some sort of a story with your image(s). How about a challenge that features more than one shot from each photographer? Say a triptych, and the request would be for a story of some sort from the series? Basic edit.

More like this ...

"The tools of photojournalism evolve from the clunky 4x5 Speed Graphic to the sleek infinity of digital color. But the goals remain the same: Capture the moment. Tell the story. Move people.

An exceptional image has magnetic power. It reaches past the outer layers of our humanity to grab us. It finds an express lane to the heart, saying quickly and clearly that war is brutal, or victory sweet, or children innocent, or life fragile, and saying it equally to men and women, young and old, rich and poor.

A great photograph has a life of its own. It can change lives. Its subjects can be ruined or immortalized. So can those who take the picture. An entire society can change its views about racism or famine. Images can even change how we feel about ourselves, because it is our curiosity that helps send a photojournalist to the blizzard or the war.

They are our eyes, and we theirs."

I would like to see a "before and after" or "then and now" - i.e. a photo you took some time in the past, and revisted during challenge week.

Some examples: 1) child/pet/tree growing up 2) vacant block of land, then a house on it 3) person after gaining/losing weight 4)previous and new haircut 5) a city that has grown etc etc etc.

I know some people will not like this because of size restrictions, but we'd all be subject to the same rules, so it won't matter.

I'd like to revitalize this challenge idea with a slightly difference.

Challenge: Tell A Story.
Description: Use your image to tell a story.
Special Instructions: All entries should be named "Untitled". Let the image do all the talking.

Might be interesting to see what people can come up with if they can't lean on a title to help nudge the viewer a certain way. It would also probably be a staged-shot heavy challenge which I certainly need practice on.

Just one shot, no triptrychs, etc. I'm iffy on whether it should be basic or advanced editing.

Sounds like a cool challenge. I think the challenges have been a little dull lately.

I would be willing to blow the dust off the old digital camera for that one. (Busy with film school) It has been since 4/10 that I have submitted. I check the forums still when I am bored at work.

P.S. Im redeveloping my website, so hopefully it will be back up soon, and there will be some of my short videos.....

Rather than a montoge, I think its more complicated, thus more challenging to tell the story within a single image. i.e., a moment in time that explains itself fully.
