forgive me for missing the point in this one but what if you dont work?

The challenge is to take an artistic photo of something related to the office - not necessarily in an office. Just take a photo of something you would expect to see in an office and you'll be fine.

I got the same problem here...but I thought about it, and I have to go to the doctors later this week so I figure that will be my chance. Just think about it, most people usually come in contact with some kind of an office during the average week.

it doesnt have to be the inside of an office does it

If somebody works at home either runnning a business, doing other type of work for pay, or runs a household, or is retired, or is a stay at home Mom or Dad, would your home be considered your office, and therefore, any thing in your home be a legitimate entry? I guess my real question is can an office be any work place, indoor, outdoor, home away from home, church, if you are a volunteer, that you may or may not be compensated for?

My interpretation of this subject is an image that would relay the feeling of 'office life' in some way... some image that says 'business'... something for the wall in an office :)

OMG, I can see lots of photos of pets or flower macros from people who
work at home! lol

A home office is fine.. as long as somehow i think of an office when i see the photo :) "office" is the topic afterall, not "where you work" .. which can be a construction site, the middle of the woods etc.. "office" has a pretty evident association with typical office supplies, and an office enviroment. Anything too far from something obviously office-like wont score very well i'm sure..

here's a list of things I expect to see... maybe posting this list here will inspire some creativity :)

Staplers
Pens/Pencils
Calculators
Telephones
Computer Keyboards
Someone sitting on the copier :)
Various computer screen shots

This list shouldn't 'ruin' anyone's ideas... if you wanna photograph these things, feel free :)

I had the same thought 2 seconds into the challenge, then I thought "hell my duotones entry would have worked!" So I'm going to think about it, run with it, and enter it!

daaaaaaaaaaangit, John... you went and gave away my stapler idea already

That and some tape are the only office-type things I have.
Anyone seen Secretary? Might come up with some interesting office ideas...

I visited my mom's office (she is a custodian) ,it was loaded with mops, detergents, brums, vacuums, sponges and other office supplies!
That wasn't quite artistic scene!

Photograph someone in uniform. Say you use text-to-speech on your computer, and mis-heard the challenge as "Officer Art."

Look, now you've got me doing it!

Nonsense ... shoot a surf shop, beachside restaurant, lifeguard tower, or someone picking up bottles on the beach and it shouldn't be too hard to work in a sunset ... especially on this coast ....

However this isn't "Your Occupation" it is "Office Art". A lifeguard tower, bottles on a beach, etc, aren't offices. I think the challenge is more about making art out of everyday office items, not taking a photo of wherever you work.

I'm going to predict that there will be 12-16 shots of the following:

sunsets taken from a office window
small vase with flower arrangements on desks
pictures of one's family on desks or hanging on a cubicle wall
a glass of water sitting on a desk with the background refracted through the glass

I would be willing to wager on this too, say $10? We can do paypal transactions 8)

I didn't even read this in the challenge description either :) I interpreted it the same way as the kitchen art challenge... make a photo that would look good hanging in an office environment :)
