Sending now, taterbug...
I'm turning in now, but will check this thread and my e-mail as soon as I wake up so that I can send people the Smugmug login information.
Thanks again to everyone for all of your help with this. I grew up in New Orleans and have many friends and family there, but I know that most of you probably have little or no connection to New Orleans and are doing this just out of the goodness of your hearts. I can't tell you how much I appreciate everything that you're doing and I know that all of the people that we're helping will appreciate your efforts too. Thank you!

Please upload hi-res files. I have turned off the ability for people to download the original files, so the only way they can access the highest quality photos is to buy a print. If you have any other questions, just let me know. Thanks!

This is just a thought.....to get more publicity/sell/reach a wider audience more prints is it worth considering getting the prints listed at a charity auction on a site such as eBay. I have never bought or sold anything there so don't know if the idea is a puff of smoke or what....

I'm sending the same files I uploaded to DPC Prints (i.e., as hi-res as I have). It works pretty much the same -- the customer orders the print in any of the available sizes, smugmug prints, ships, bills ...
I (and probably others) will likely leave them up on this site for some specified time period yet to be determined. |

pricing suggestion i'd raise the prices just a bit. when you buy a chocolate bar from a schoolkid, you're paying a lot more than retail, but you know that you are supporting something. maybe 5x7=$10, 8x10=$20, 11x14=$30, and forget 4x6s? what do ya'll think? |

May i get the login info. when somebody has the chance please? I would like to put some print up for this cause as well.
Thank you Philip and everyone else who is helping out with this. I think it's a wonderful idea.

Thank you from KenSkid...evacuee who can't go back home for weeks. We are ok "money wise" however, I have not talked to my 5 sisters, 1 brother or my father since the storm. Not sure where they are. My father was dead center in the eye at the time of landfall.

I think this may be a good ideal, just not too much!
Also I've added prints to the smugmug gallery and will add more later.

Thanks for all your help, General, and everyone who has been posting their photos and donating to this effort! At this point, I'm not sure who still needs the login info to upload prints, so please PM me if you want to contribute your photos and I'll get you that information right away. Also, if anyone has any questions at all about how this site works or anything else, please let me know. Thank you!

Just bought a print on your SmugMug site Philip!
Thanks so much to everyone participating, whether it's buying or selling. I've uploaded a couple of images, but will upload some more this weekend. Thanks again!

I just saw that, Jaime - thanks so much!
I have been waiting until the DNS starts pointing katrinaprints.com to that gallery before asking people to start spreading the word, but I'd like to ask you all to please consider telling your friends and family about this site to let people know that they can donate to this deserving cause by purchasing a beautiful print from you or your friends here at DPC. I'll post a note when that URL is live, but until then, please feel free to point people to:
//philipdyer.smugmug.com/gallery/776042/
Or they can just go to //philipdyer.smugmug.com and click on the "Katrina Relief Photos" link.
Thanks so much for all of your efforts so far. More to come... :-)

Thanks, Scuds!
If anyone has any other suggestions for what I can do to make this process easier or to publicize it better, please let me know. I am posting notes on Craigslist right now and will start customizing the site to make it look a little better. If anyone else wants to post photos, please PM me and I'll get you the info right away. Thank you!

I'd love to get more feedback on this issue from those who are contributing their photos. Here's the pricing right now:
4x6: $5.00 -- proceeds $4.00
5x7: $7.50 -- proceeds $5.50 (price was accidentally $5, but I just increased it)
8x10: $10.00 -- proceeds $6.00
11x14: $15.00 -- proceeds $8.00
16x20: $30.00 -- proceeds $10.00
18x24: $40.00 -- proceeds $17.00
20x30: $50.00 -- proceeds $24.00
24x36: $80.00 -- proceeds $37.00
30x40: $100.00 -- proceeds $45.00
There are other products and prices, but this gives you a good general idea. Should I change the prices for these photos? Please let me know what you think ASAP because I'd like to set the pricing firmly before really starting to advertise this site. Thank you!

I guess they're just fine!
The cheaper onee already give you prints in a "nice" size.
And the huge ones are always top bucks!
I say go for it

Do you mean the difference between the cost of the print and the proceeds? That goes to the company that is printing, delivering and processing the transaction for the print order. The cost is very nominal for the service they are providing, which is why I was happy to work with both DPC Prints and Smugmug in these efforts. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
