You can add my name to the prints list as well. Also if you need any help getting the website up let me know. I will be more than willing to help. I will also be adding a link from my website as well as 3 others I am the web designer of. I also have $13.00 in my dpc account that I am willing to add to the donations. Remember if you need any help pm me.

It's not live yet, but as soon as it is, I will give everyone who wants to sell their prints a username and password so that you can upload your prints directly. There will be no approval process or delay in making the prints live, so you can post and remove your photos any time you like.

I'm planning on donating all of the money to the Red Cross or directly to a Katrina relief fund, if I find one that looks particularly good. If anyone has other suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thanks again to all of you who are participating in this effort and please stay tuned for more info soon! :-)

Thanks Philip! I'll upload some there.

I have another idea--if we can pull it off quickly. How about a group photo project--like John's Picture Alphabet project or Flags project--to make some sort of large poster print than can be sold to benefit Katrina victims? Not only just to make money for them, but something created especially for them. I'm not sure what, open for anyone's ideas here. Just something else we might be able to do to help.

Great idea, Neil. I didn't participate in one of those, so maybe someone who did can put that together. Of course, I can help in any way that will be useful. I would still like to put the site together to make a central location that is easy for people to use on their own any time they like, but I think we can do both. The more options, the better. :-)

UPDATE: I have put up the SmugMug gallery where people can upload prints that they want to donate to this cause. The idea is to have a central location for people to post pictures with no waiting time or approval process. I reserved the katrinaprints.com domain name for this gallery, which will be live as soon as my DNS is updated. I will continue to maintain and update this list for DPC Prints, but I wanted to offer another option that will be faster and easier for most people.

To upload your photos, please go to:

==========
SC Note: Login info hidden for security reasons -- let's distribute the info via PM instead.

I'll help send it out to anyone who needs it.
==========
Once you do that, you should be able to upload as many photos as you like. I am still trying to figure out how to add subcategories within that folder so that people can navigate more efficiently, so any advice is more than welcome. :-)

Please let me know if you have any problems or questions.

What kind of prints/images do you want, and how are they being priced? Are there size/aspect ratio restrictions at smugmug?

I just uploaded 6 prints, everything seemed to work out well, it looks like they are set at a base price. I think smugmug does all the resizing for you. Its pretty easy just upload them and you ready. At least thats the way I took it.

I have also added a link from my website to our smugmug gallery in hopes to highten traffic. Looks like we have about 80 prints available already. I will do my best to make people aware of this site.

Hi General. There are no aspect size restrictions because customers can choose any available print size and then set how they want to crop the photo, if necessary. The size restrictions are only dependent on total bandwidth used, so that shouldn't be a problem. I set the prices myself for the whole gallery, but I believe individual uploaders can set any price they want for each picture that they post. I'll make sure right now that the prices are turned on corectly.

Thanks again to everyone who is participating in this effort! It really is helping. :-)

If you think any of these are appropriate, let me know and I'll upload them so you can try and sell some of them for me ... I haven't had all that much success at it myself so far ... : )

You don't need to ask, General, please just go ahead and post them. All photos are very welcome. :-)

Okay : )

I had to edit your previous post and make a little more work for us by deleting the login info -- another SC member thought it way too great a security risk to post on a forum page. We can send it by PM to anyone who asks. Sorry for the inconvenience ... if there's another secure way just let me know.

Okay, General, thanks for letting me know. That was just a guest password, so there wasn't much damage that anyone could do, but I'm fine PMing the information to anyone who is willing to help. I edited that out of this thread as well.

Also, I am having trouble setting the prices on that account, so I requested help from SmugMug. I followed all of the instructions in their pricing guide, but it doesn't seem to have updated any of the prices. If anyone knows a trick to help with this, please let me know. Thanks!

Well, the good news is that the login info and upload process seem to work fine, and I was able to upload five photos -- I think even the same ones I listed : )

I can also PM the login info to anyone who posts a request here.

I'm curious to see what you can sell these for : )

Thanks for your help, General. :-) I'm curious to see what I can sell the photos for too. Unfortunately, there seems to be a glitch in setting the photo pricing. I'm working on that now with SmugMug and will update those prices as soon as possible. Thanks!

I am interested in donating.Please explain how this works, if you donate/upload a print to Smugmug, are the prices and sizes are already set? And if someone orders, who is responsible for printing them and shipping them ? Does Smugmug provide that service automatically or is each photographer responsible for getting the print done and shipped to the buyer?

P.S. Could you give us a weekly update on how much the donations are amounting to? Knowing that something sold would be great encouragement.

Hi pixieland. Sure, I'll be glad to explain how this works. The prices are already set by me as default settings, but I believe that individuals can overwrite their own prices for individual photos. If not, you can let me know what you'd like to charge for which images and I can set it myself, though obviously I'd like to keep this process as simple as possible. There is a very wide variety of print sizes for the customer to choose from, and they can set the crop sizes as well if they want a non-standard size print.

All you would be responsible for is uploading a photo. Smugmug takes care of everything after that - the transaction, printing, shipping, etc. And I'll be glad to post updates on print sale amounts. First I need to figure out the pricing glitch, then I'll start working on a better presentation and getting some publicity for the site. All links are welcome, of course. :-) Thanks!

Pricing Update: Smugmug replied to me right away (Yea Smugmug!) and let me know that owners of the account only see the base price when logged in. To see the regular prices, log out and then click the "buy this photo" link. If anyone has feedback or suggestions on the prices that I set for the products, please let me know. Note that you can change the Prouct pulldown menu when buying a print to see all of the products that Smugmug offers, such as shirts, mousepads, mugs, etc.

Thanks to everyone who is participating in this effort! Please spread the word. :-)
