I am looking at a 300D and am wondering if the speed of the compact flash card makes a difference to this camara. Do I really need the 60, 80, or 100x speed? Or does will the Compact Flash type I cards with 2 mb/s work just fine. I sometimes do like to take shots one after the other. Does that matter?

As far as in-camera performance, you want a reasonably quick card, but you don't need to hang the bucks on the fastest available. Check out Rob Galbraith's CF Card Performance Database for more info than you ever needed.
A faster card, coupled with a very fast card reader, will greatly speed up transfers to the 'pooter, which is important if you frequently fill large (1GB or greater) cards.
I'd suggest the Sandisk Ultra II cards, they are positioned well on the cost/performance curve.

Yeah, too bad no one told you about that yesterday when you were asking about flash cards. :P

I have used both Lexar 8x and 80x in my 10D and to be honest with you I have never noticed any difference in speed.
