Hopefully someone will read this and respond! I've never posted in this section before =)

I was wondering if someone could suggest a good place to purchase scrapbooking materials (I already have a book, but if you have a suggestion for another one, I'd love to take a look). I'm scrapbooking a wedding with photos that I am taking from the engagement right on through to the wedding (bridal party & bachelorette party included)!!

I'm just having a hard time finding inexpensive materials! This is the first time I will be making a scrapbook and can use all the help I can get. I'm very creative when it comes to layout and design, it's just finding the stuff and getting started that I need help with!

Anything is appreciated- thanks in advance

There are a couple of places to get great stuff....Hopefully you have these where ever you live...these ones are in Orange County CA...Tall mouse crafts, Michaels crafts but they dont have a whole lot, Memories and More, and you can aways find places that sell stuff for creative memories hope this helps you.

i would try a Michael's, AC Moore, or any other large craft store. Where in NY are you? i have a directory that lists stores in NY based on city. PM me and i can find out if there is a scrapbook store near you.

Even Walmart and Target carry scrapbook supplies now.

I'm a big scrapbooker and I love archivers they have every classy thing you need, unlike michaels that is a little more cheesy. you can find their stores at makingmemories.com

I've found ebay to have a nice community of scrapbookers who give great deals and since most scrapbook items are small, shipping is cheaper.

I did my first scrapbook before taking a class or really looking at others. I used a lot of things I already had around the house. Put your imagination to work if you want to go really cheap! I had lots of buttons, bric-a-brac, lace, doilies, drew some things, did others on the computer, cut paper into all sorts of shapes and backgrounds.

It doesn't have to be expensive, but it surely can get that way!

More suggestions welcome!

Thanks again..I can't wait to get started!

I don't know about in your area, but even here in Lansing (MI), there are several scrapbooking stores. Not too long ago, I was discussing it with my wife, I was surprised that it was such a big thing to have stores dedicated just to it. I can't recall any of there names right offhand, but maybe try the phonebook for your area?
And like others have said, I've seen the supplies in craft stores and even wal-mart, target, seems like everywhere. And also, I think jpochard is right on, you can probably be resourceful and come up with all kinds of inexpensive type of stuff :-)

Hobbylobby is the place my wife gets her stuff. I almost dread the Sunday newspaper, as she goes straight to their ad in it. Most weeks they have something on 50%. For instance this week is albums and refill pages, die cuts, paper punches and wavy scissors are all 50% off. Check out the ad at //www.hobbylobby.com/site3/weekly/specials/2005week36.jpg

A scrapbook is simply a decorated photo album that also preserves the stories behind the photos, it can also hold certificates, letters, etc. You might have a family album as well as smaller theme albums for vacations, home improvement or a baby’s first year. Some scrapbookers create an album for each family member.
