i tried to get rid of the bandit.. you told me about with my low tide photo...
is it better? or im still doing something wrong..

coz it said its like medium 45kb.. but original is 410kb...
so you dont really get the original dont you...

thx for the tips anyway..

The PRIGINAL file from your camera is 410kb? That's hard to believe. Anyway, send me the largest file you have and let me look at it, if you like. e-mail is on profile.

Regardless, if the banding does not show on the 410kb file (does it?) then we can make a display image that has no banding.

I'd say we're heading for a controversial challenge...

I've been experimenting with High Contrast to get ready for this challenge. Never done a shot or editing like this before so just looking for some feedback. This is not an image I will enter. It was taken from an old one I had and worked on a little.

Is it High Contrast?

I agree that it is high key as well.

DO you consider this high contrast for color??

Oh my, so many possibilities for this challenge, my mind is spinning. Sounds like another challenge I might get a good idea for, but not be able to execute.

I think my last challenge entry

was rather high contrast. Did not sit too well with the voters, though... :)

Joey, it seems to me that half the work, at least, that you have posted in here qualifies as high-contrast color work, and would better suit the challenge than this particular B/W shot. But that's just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Possible examples...at least they're on the edge.

It's gonna be very interesting to see how the voters deal with this, collectively. For some, possibly many, people, "high contrast" calls to mind B/W images with lots of white, lots of black, and few (if any) middletones. A printed page of type in a book is high contrast to the core. For me, and I'm sure for many others, "high contrast" means an image with extremes of contrast dominating the picture, and middle tones are acceptable within that context. So I consider this one high-contrast:

But more than that, "high contrast" to me is not limited to B/W imagery, as we've explored in here; COLOR contrast also counts in my book. Fundamentally, to have "high color contrast" you need significant and opposed areas of complementary colors. I find myself wondering how these images will do in the challenge.
