I am wanting to fly somewhere where the fall foliage is so amazing and breath taking..it would also be awesome to have a GTG.

Any of you have any ideas where to go?

The trees here are beautiful in the Fall!! Of course I'm from California originally (NO SEASONAL changes) so I might be easily impressed by them. ;-) Would love to get together with you if you come out this way somewhere. :-D

That would be great! When is the best time over that way for good colors?

Northern New Hampshire. This is my first fall up here, so I'm really looking forward to it. Then of course we get lots of tourists up here for just this reason.

I would second Vermont and upstate New York. There are many dense woods that you can explore and in NY the Adirondacks make a great backdrop (if you're luck you can get some early snowfall although I don't think so this year). The NE is really great but it can be hard to hit the peak right on since it is unpredictable.

It is too early right now, but when the leaves start changing in September... Weather.com usually has maps showing where locations are as far as fall foliage. This way you can see the general trend on how far into the season your location is. If I am not mistaken, generally, the further north you are, the earlier the peak and the closer to water, the later the peak.

Hope this is helpful,
Lee

Here in Colorado, the Mt. Evans Scenic loop is pretty nice for fall foliage. It's on my list of things to do.

In October I'll be headed for Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah Valley. Hiking, camping, waterfalls, and caves. Oh, and leaves changing. :)

I'll put my vote in for Michigan's upper pennisula... the drive along US-2 is rated one of the top ten color tours in the nation by USA Today.

Don't forget New Hampshire! Especially in the Lakes Region (Lake Winnipesaukee). I lived there for 10 years and you cannot beat the natural beauty.

I am sure we are going to have another NY/MA/CT get together like we did last October which was attended by Scalvert, nshapiro, graphicfunk, soccerdad, daisy77, & ericlimon. The question is just where and when. Perhaps it should be how often!

I'd love to see if we can try and make it so we have one where we can meet you. Last year we did the Adirondacks (Lake George Region), but we were about a week late for the peak. Perhaps this year we can do a few GTGs in fall. One trip is not enough for the beautiful foliage!

Fall is a week in late November here... I think the leaves all turn brown in one day and fall off the next. ;)

I would love to see real fall color someday. The northeast in the fall is definitely on my list of places to see before I croak. :)

I was going to mention Colorado myself, especially the aspens, man I miss Colorado. I grew up spending my weekends adn summers at our cabin up past Winter Park just past Fraser and Tabernash.

I'll be back there for a 3 day weekend in November, hope the weather cooperates since this will be the first time my wife and daughter will see my home state. Can't wait to show it off, wish I had more time.

great now I'm homesick again. :(

The Fall color changes here in central alberta are dramatic. I havn't any photos of it, but here's a pictures someone else took of the river valley in Edmonton (where I'm from). I've seen much more impressive displays of color just up river from this shot. //www.worldisround.com/articles/22096/photo37.html

I would definitely be in for that trip too... although I think you forgot to include RI in that list! ;)
