These are some of the other shots I got the night I shot my challenge entry for rain.

Those are awesome.
I think these two would have beat mine... I see the rain, just not the main subject of the shot.

Very cool! I wish I could get some lightning like that around here. Just curious, did you tweak the hue in those yourself, or is that a white balance effect?

Wow! Great shots! I've never done lightning; what settings do you use? I really have to start trying new things.

The first one that Soni posted is about what all of them looked like out of the camera. It was the only one that I left looking "normal". The rest I played with bcause I thought it was fun.

F8, ISO 50, and the bulb setting. Exposures ranged from 10sec to 50sec. Just depended on how many bolts flashed in a given time.

Those must be the best lightning shots I have ever seen. "Good job!" would be a major underestimation. :>

A little bump for the early night crew.

Cool! I don't think I'd be able to get shots like that. Were you out on a road, or under cover someplace or what? I see these kinds of shots and wonder because I'd be scared witless standing out in that kind of weather!

I was actually quite a distance from this storm. Most were shot at 200-300mm and they are still cropped in some for the final image. I was standing just off a highway. I was driving home when I saw all this going on in my rearview mirror. So I set up and took shots for the next 45 min or so.
